Thargoid invasion - Next target systems?

I did the same and went to a few ISF and couldn't pay it off, In the end I just handed myself in for the credits and flown back from the prison. It saved time !
it was not a huge issue for me, I had to pack up anyway so just logged into solo and let the timer count out. am clean again now so ready for another go if the boss goes to bed early

A very large horizontal chunk of progress has given the projection an unexpected push! I want to see how it looks by tomorrow morning before drawing any conclusions, especially due to that top bracket containing a Control system, but I was quite surprised to see it at 10–11 with the 12th too narrowly within range. For the moment, consider any of the top seven systems to be a safe enough investment.

Lubal and Varlawoth join the fight, both notably with only a single port in their first Invasion week, and I believe the return of Muruidooges makes it the first system to have effort applied against a second Invasion. Muruidooges similarly is in its (second) first Invasion week, so I would not fault anyone choosing to leave it for now.

Top targets at 18:40 13th January 3309:
Holvandalla Invasion + 5 ports – 44%
HIP 21380 Invasion + 1 port – 34%
HIP 11111 Invasion + 1 port – 28%
Yemaki Invasion + 2 ports – 28%
Chanyaya Invasion + 0 ports – 20%
Namayu Invasion + 2 ports – 20%
Vogulu Invasion + 5 ports – 20%

If it helps, at least to replace waiting with doing something unplanned, you can always switch to a clean starship while Notoriety fades. For example, I have one for Interceptors, one for Scouts, and two for evacuation depending on whether I need the medium-pad Python or whether I can get away with using the speedy Clipper.

Speaking of evacuations, that could be a good option during your ship transfer downtime, if you feel so inclined! Imagine running escape pods from a zero-port system for a bit, then using it to reach your transferred combat starship.

Been running CZs at Wilkes in Namayu and seen a few other CMDRs there as well. No swarm is a game changer for the Interceptors … although I did accidentally ram one to death which necessitated some somewhat urgent repairs …

no swarm ... that sounds interesting they have them where I was.

quick and probably obvious question about missions to kill X number of thargoids.... are they any thargoids or do they have to be in the system you took the mission (hoping for the former guessing it's the latter) I don't think the mission text specifies however .

Swarms are present around stations, but not planetary bases.

The kill Thargoid missions allow any location so you can jump from system to system and continue tallying them up.

Massive progress gains on Friday have pushed the estimation up to 12–13 systems, with a marginal 14th projecting 1450%. Garongxians and HIP 20019 have fresh Alert movement, Paitra returns in its final Invasion week, and HIP 20491 joins the fight!

Please note that one of those top fourteen is a Control eviction in the empty system Hyades Sector EQ-O b6-3, which at present will need a little extra support after some of the top Invasions are defended, such that my suggestion is for evacuation efforts to prefer Chanyaya next and combat to prefer Hyades Sector EQ-O b6-3 next.

Despite being uninhabited, please keep in mind also that clearing the empty Control system still impacts the Thargoid advance by one! If it helps, I like to think of it as consuming a future Alert which could otherwise target a populated system, and ultimately I think that we will need eviction teams entering the war to do exactly that at every Maelstrom.

The main/only restriction is that they will be a specific type of Thargoid, generally either Scouts (any variant) or specific Interceptors (Basilisks, for example). It looks like this:

The mission text specifies Invasion systems, however actually the location can be anywhere. I just tested this personally and found that the mission progresses in the present system, another Invasion system, and even in a Control system.

Since I am rubbish at the old pew-pew-pew, what commodities are most useful to bring in - where it says "Deliver Supplies"? For example in Yemaki which is an extraction / refinery system.

Varies between stations/systems (whatever shows with high demand in the market will be effective) but H.E. Suits and Hydrogen Peroxide are pretty much guaranteed to be wanted in all economies.

This also makes them great for stacking; you can collect a full load of 20 missions from surrounding systems and as long as they're all from different factions, knock them all out at the same time. Can be handy for completing thargoid missions from multiple alerts systems (where targets are sparse).

So far as I've been able to tell, any.
Used to be a specific one back in the pre war duels period.

Holvandalla (94%) closing very soon, to be followed by quite the cascade of systems! Thirteen this cycle is still the expectation given the activity level, and even the eviction in Hyades Sector EQ-O b6-3 has now projected only just enough (105%), presumably without extra help following Invasion completions.

Fresh Alert activity is present in Vukurbeh, its second Alert after having been repelled previously in week 3. Vaipacnali rejoins the fight, and yet more modest eviction effort is occurring in Pegasi Sector BQ-Y d93!

Vukurbeh has been my base of operations since those whole debacle kicked off. Was very happy to see it come off Alert last time so hope we can save it again.

Would turning in my Combat bonds there help any?

Correct - check https://eddb.io/commodity (go to system, select stations (any one under attack, affected by the invasion, etc) for a good sampling of what's actually needed. Bring that on your first trip. Once dropped off, check missions to see what they actually need. Don't be surprised if there's a large request for Onionhead (I guess it helps make the population there that wants to evacuate get more mellow as they wait for passenger ships to stop by).

PSA: Anyone taking passenger evacuation missions ending up at Tarach Tor be advised up to 4 gankers working there. Blown up twice; once on arrival and once departing before I could get clear of the station mass-lock. FDL and Chieftan. Wing-up or go solo in that system.

It's a shame they can't use those skills against the Thargoids.

Victory in Holvandalla and HIP 21380! Namayu (92%) has surged and should be next, and the systems projection is 13–14, borderline 15 depending on appetite for Alert systems (Neites, in this case). We have fresh Alert activity in HIP 2422, a strong Control eviction in the unpopulated Arietis Sector NS-R a5-0, and some modest eviction effort in the populated Control system Humarala!

I wish I had an assured answer; I would rate that to be very unlikely, and it is not listed as an Alert activity, however ultimately it would need either direct confirmation from Frontier or large-scale testing with an army of Commanders all redeeming a few billion credits each at the same time.

Additionally, note that SPEAR might appreciate some fresh targets!

While either I am missing something in the mission mechanics, or some missions are bugged.

I took a mission to kill a single (1, uno) Cyclops in an Invasion system, and I'm in a port instance, Cyclopes are dropping left and right, I'm getting the 8mil every time, but the mission fails to register that one kill I need for it to complete.

Or am I supposed to do the hunting completely alone?

I also noticed this, and then I scanned one cyclops, and later when we killed it, mission was completed. Like, by scanning you prove it's a cyclops.

Sounds like one of the known issues listed in the feedback thread, that only the last person to get a hit on an interceptor gets the actual credit for a kill, although bonds are awarded to everyone.

You or somebody in your team (regardless of whether the mission is shared with them) has to get the final shot on an interceptor in order for it to count towards a mission.
This is how thargoid missions have always been.
