Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I’ve got the (edit: Frustrating) Formicidae on ignore. Did they say anything worth replying to, or is it their customary obfuscation, prevarications, and misrepresentations?

edited due to my original choice of alliteration running afoul of Frontiers overzealous censoring…
Great, I was expecting the big fornicular party starting off, then I learn that it's just the zoological name for ants.

Fun fact: Ant is Ameise in German and you pronounce it A-Maise. If taken literally it would be A(Like in A-Team) -Tid(The bird).

Some of what he was describing can be found in SC, and some things he wasn't describing can be found in SC and not in ED.
For me, I don't care having a billion planets if they have less diversity than the planets of the sole Stanton system in SC (even if they are at the 'real size')
That is still factually wrong. The variety of locations in ED I am afraid is several orders of magnitude better and larger than in Star Citizen. Not only from a pure asset perspective but also actual existing gameplay and associated features.

The variety and interest of locations in ED I am afraid is several orders of magnitude better and larger than in Star Citizen. And that is just a tiny fraction of what you can get in a simulated entire galaxy with billions of star systems. This is hand placed assets working in tandem with procedural generation based on actual astronomic data and astrophysics principles done well. Probably among best in class. How ridiculous can you get @LittleAnt ?

I mean, how desperate your statements about SC must be and how bad your need to misrepresent is, if you are willing to be this much wrong about the variety of locations in Elite?

Indeed

I mean, feel free to not like it but hey. It is what it is.

Changing topic, will you care to answer?:

New launcher update, still same Nvidia settings problems

I'm still on 1.6.2 of the launcher...the update possibly hasn't been released yet 🤷‍♂️

Nice patchwork of images, but I can do the same with SC.
Once landed on the planets, the number of textures/biomes to discover is absolutely not on par with SC. Note, I don't count the same rock switching from blue to red as 2 different biomes...
In ED, stars and systems vista are pretty, better and more diverses than SC. Planets are not. SC has also a LOT of unique assets and textures to discover in a LOT of places.

You can try, but you wont be able to show in SC any image where you can see views, whether from planets or from anywhere else, with [thanks @StuartGT] twin sunsets, and triple sunsets, and orbiting moons, and different atmosphere compositions, and near unlimited gravity levels, and many ring formations, and blackholes, and neutron stars, and all classes of star types, and nebulae, and aliens to fight, and massive space storms, and mysterious phenomena, and ancient alien archaeology, and fully-voiced lore-filled megaships, and asteroids that go BOOM, all in glorious VR.

Not to mention all the gameplay and features associated with most of those, inexistent in SC.

All that and more make SC objectively lacking significantly in both quantity and quality in terms of location variety. Again, you are free to not like it, but hey. It is what it is.

There is a reason why Elite appears consistently in most top space exploration games (or simply top space games) rankings out there, and SC does not.

Preaching the obvious to the non-existing audience? I'm catholic too.

I removed "and orbiting moons". SC has orbiting moons.
Now you wont be able to show in ED images where you can see snow storm, sand storm, clouds, ocean, rivers, wind, caves, forests, beautiful crystals on ground, huge cities (on ground and floating), and guys to fight in EVA, and massive PvP battles, and massive PvE battles, and a real combined arms, and 100 hundred different ships, and fully explorable ship interior (players or derelicts), and delivery boxes that go boom, and beautiful and unique places (bars, shops, discotheques...), and secret places (Benny Henge, Snowman firecamp, hidden rooms, the chair camp at MT, etc), and a real roleplay in FPV...

Not to mention all the gameplay and features associated with most of those, inexistent in SC.
Ho boy, you still believe there is nothing to do in SC ? Wake up. Just come try mining, exploring a derelict, doing a FPS mission, delivery, some pirating, etc during a free fly.

Fun fact. Server meshing will never be a thing in this game. Bullets crossing servers? Nah.
Roberts lied to all you gullible backers who thought this was possible

Everything I've struck through (example) in your comment there exists in Elite Dangerous. But because you're blinkered by your fanaticism to SC, and don't play Elite (or many other games I'm sensibly guessing) you don't actually know.

Once again the only thing you're accomplishing here is embarrassing yourself.

Do SC moons actually orbit and translate with respect to other objects?

Never said you dont have "some" variety of locations in SC. The problem with SC´s location variety is that is extremely limited or plain sucks:
- Clouds, rivers and basically everything related to water in SC is of very mediocre quality and breaks by looking at it.

Source: https://youtu.be/0WXr2XwCHl8
  • Caves? Probably the biggest meh in a space game.
  • Forests? They already exist in Elite.
  • Crystals? Already in Elite, plus a ton more variety of discoverables than SC.
  • Cities? They already exist in Elite. The ones in SC, especially the "huge" ones though, do not have much more gameplay than shopping or "traversing". Which already exists in Elite, plus settlements in Elite include much better and detailed mission related gameplay including actual stealth mechanics and direct impact in persistent faction warfare, which SC sorely lacks.

Ho boy, you still believe there is nothing to do in SC ? Wake up. Just come try mining, exploring a derelict, doing a FPS mission, delivery, some pirating, etc during a free fly.

Regarding "things to do", never said you dont have "some" variety of things to do in SC. The problem with SC´s gameplay variety is that it is extremely limited when compared to Elite and it breaks much more often than most any other game. But we have gone through that already:

That is an actual justified LOL right there 😂 . If you insist in going into this particular "SC does this thing that your game does not" I am afraid we can not ignore things that others game do that SC does not. And I am afraid SC loses overall at every turn. Not just when compared to Elite but also NMS, Space Engineers and pretty much every other actual space game out there.

For exemple SC has been very unsuccessfully trying to catch up with Elite for over 11+ years on a number of things such as:
  • Jumping to multiple systems
  • Space anomalies
  • Black holes, nebulas, neutron stars, white dwarf stars, binary and multiple star systems, etc etc that you can visit
  • Ability to actually be the first discoverer of celestial objects and claim the discovery plus have your name on it.
  • In cockpit VR support
  • Alien races, ruins and puzzles with associated gameplay
  • Repairing gameplay
  • Exploration content, gameplay and related features
  • In ship illegal goods authority detection and related silent running smuggling gameplay
  • Crafting and customizing modules and ships
  • Taxi shuttle service
  • 3+Km long player owned fleet carrier megaships
  • Proper silent running and detailed countermeasures systems
  • Dynamic economy
  • Mission generator based on system economy and faction states, all influenceable by players
  • Ability to participate in persistent player faction warfare
  • Wider array of FPS surface building layouts including actual related missions and gameplay
  • Settlements defense and alarm features that can be interacted with, hacked or even disabled by players
  • Reasonably working different archetypes of actual NPC´s AI and patrols
  • FPS detailed stealth gameplay features
  • Functional tutorials and starting player dedicated environment
  • Ship naming
  • Ship skins
Or more generally decent physics or just behaving in a stable manner without crashing, glitching or breaking basic geometries in the game every other minute.

SC is also not even trying to, or rather can´t, do:
  • 1:1 scale model of the galaxy and systems based on astrophysics fundamentals including actual celestial motions, orbits etc
  • Quantum travel equivalent with pilot flight directional full control and unconstrained navigation for ships within system
  • In game actual global alien race invasion warfare mechanics
Just so to name a few.

Also, to be fair, here a few things ED does not have that SC does have:
  • Broken physics, frequent crashing, glitching or breaking basic geometries in the game every other minute
  • Ability to purchase unlimited in game credits with real money
  • Ability to purchase unlimited in game ships or weapons with real money
  • Subscriptions
So, yeah SC is not only a very mediocre and crappy, pay to win broken game, but it is lagging quite behind in overall offered content and basic features.
