Elite: Dangerous Legacy League

Its a moon of extremes.
From the tallest mountains to the deepest ravines and using many colours Deep blue Ice/ Deep purple Ice and Other regions white ice and also a cratered rocky surface. Vertical Ice walls some 30 kilometers straight up with many places to land up high for the thrill of base jumping over 30 kilometers straight down. Mountain valleys with 20 to 30 kilometer high mountain either side creating spectacular views especially if the gas giant is in the sky at the end of a valley.
The ravines are very deep but not unique its the types of extreme mountains this moon possesses and the different colours that for some reason got used on this moons ice.
It is also a rocky planet not just ice so a lot of contrast as well.
I would estimate at least 20 peeks well over 25k high several over 30 k high and to many to count over 20 kilometers and one white behemoth I jumped off in my SRV and for a while I was worried that I was in orbit!
What I find strange about it is that it looks like a hand made moon and the quality of the ice looks so realistic and a black hole right next door in a region were there are no other black holes.
It's Pomeche 2. :) Nice moon with nice views.

(Currently parked at the top of the second highest mountain in my SRV. No parking at the highest!)

I fly in VR only so have never been able to screen shot the moon so I am intrigued as to how it would look in full resolution.
VR here too, although WMR so there's always a mirror window to crank up the resolution on for screenshots/video

On the last stretch

Really cool to meet up with folks so far out 👋

Some shots from last night, obviously don't click the spoiler if you want to see the world for yourself first.
It's a spectacular place, I've not seen mountains quite like this before, and definitely not that colour!

On approach:

Cmdr's @MadMark and @conan02 getting ready to base jump:

Cmdr MadMark mid jump. It's a looong way down, maybe +20km's:

I'm out today but got some footage of jumps I'll put up later.

ps. @MadMark I wasn't clear with comms and was a muppet, I didn't realise you were talking on the wing chat as I didn't have chat audio on

@Globusdiablo - put me on Legacy list. I uninstalled Ody because constant problems, last straw was FC service bug and incredible long jump time.
Bright side is so I redeem room on SSD for install Witcher 3 NexGen upgrade (+50GB). Tested this yesterday and looks impressive.
See You in black. o7

After seeing this picture’s I have to fly out there to take in this fabulous planet before it’s gone for ever.
Thinking about taking my carrier, anyone interested in tagging along.
Nice to have more company. I look forward to your arrival.
Every time I go down to the surface I cannot get over the views I encounter and having conan02's fleet carrier here at the moment is such a added bonus because base jumping from above 25 k is never guaranteed a safe landing!

I suspect I'll remain in the area for quite a while (alt account). I'm in a neighbouring system at the moment checking out a moon just outside the rings of a gas giant.

To everyone interested in visiting the system AEMONZ NU-L C22-184, FC "ZIREAEL" will be departing to bubble within weeks.
So there is a chance to fly there and back. I can wait a week before leaving, so tourists have time to explore and have fun. (I'm in no rush.)
We invite you for a tour.

I think I've been spoiled by Space Engine (and perhaps even screenshots from Odyssey), because that planet seems very fake-looking to me. No offense to those enjoying it, it just doesn't entice me at all.

Odyssey is a computer game, too. So is Microsoft Flight Simulator, Minecraft, and all the other games that fall on the spectrum of "looks real" vs "looks fake" spectrum.
This planet is in Horizons 3.8 Legacy not Odyssey.
Every planet is a computer lottery build and finding the unusual is what makes the search worthwhile.
Olympus Mona on Mars is over 13.6 miles high, I bet there planets out there that “ seem to be fake “ also.
These kind of unique find excites me and I have to go see for myself.

Carrier “ VR Baby “
After a few weeks in AEMONZ NU-L C22-184 VR Baby will move to Explore’s Anchorage.
Or you can catch Zireael ride home

Yes. I was actually referring to Elite in my comment. No computer game is yet good enough to not look fake. Some can look pretty good, but we are a long way from having the processing power to make things look real (except maybe in some contrived tests).
