Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

SDPs... yuck. Got that one out the way a while back and I never want to see one again :D
I have all the mods unlocked via the other bubble engineers, but thought that getting the SDP’s to unlock Woody Allen whatsisname Wellington Beck after Terra Velasquez Hero Ferrari might be something to do - i actually had more before but absentmindedly sold them to a bartender while clearing out data space late one night… now they seem rarer and more difficult to find than Tussock’s teeth 😜

Right...

Now that I have changed my modules I have yet another problem...

Impossible to land on an engineer's moon, the 3D is completely distorted, I've been lucky once to go through the moon and dock to the station from below on top of which the blueprint I need aren't visible, what a mess...

Here you can see through the window how the moon looks like a cracked nut. Any idea what causes this?

That one beats me. I have seen many things, but never a pistachio moon...

The only thing that I could think of would be some issues with a driver... But your guess is about as good as mine, there.
Anybody else having the same issue?
Looking closer, deciphering the letters... Is this in VR? It says SteamVR beta 1.25.3" on the bottom.
The "beta" could be a hint to what is going on. Software in "beta" status is still in development and even major bugs aren't ironed out.
Though I guess you are aware of that.

Looks a bit like a mesh* issue, like when one occasionally falls through the surface into a planet... has happened to me in screen mode, though that looks like a VR capture yep.

*well, this is a typical reason for "falling through the map" in other [static map / environment] games, but here in ED it's due to surface / player altitude miscalculation apparently....

It looks like an antialiasing issue to me, not that familiar with VR though.

I found yet another Ammonia World, according to my observatory app it's worth 2.8 million credits.

Yes it is VR and the Driver was released (correction) on 17th/02, the issue have been going on for weeks, support has no clue.

I could try to revert to the standard version of Steam VR, good suggestion...

I changed from Steam VR Beta to the standard version and it made a change in a sense that the part of the moon where I needed to land was nearly intact, in fact the base was several hundred meters below the surface and to dock, the ship had to go through it (autodock).

I recorded the whole episode to send to support and AMD, the issue with AMD is that it is near impossible to revert to an older driver, I'm gonna ask their support team but I wasn't able to find a link to any of them.

So, now I got new shield cell banks, one size above the previous ones with the engineering mod I wanted, at least from the available engineer (Elvira Martuuk in Khun) modifier level 1 only, for level 4 it's Mel Brandon in Colonia.

This problem doesn't surprise me, there are way too many apps just to get a game to play in VR, the more layers, the harder for each app to work together, not mentioning GPU drivers, which is one reason I spent so much time in this game lately, DCS developers fcu-ked up the VR support with a new update and it became unplayable, resulting in a huge loss of visual quality, this just after I spent 70 quids in a new module...

So no it isn't an antialiasing issue, the screenshot is of mediocre quality (sry) but a complete misalignement of 3D geometry which can twist itself to knots and the textures.

It could come from any apps or AMD drivers.

An open letter to FDEV follows:

Please build EPT's for all engine sizes *

Thanks.

* Wouldn't it be fun times to have a Corvette handle like an Eagle...
While I would love the speed boost I would absolutely hate the requirement to get the mass down to around 1600 tonnes meet the optimal mass requirements!

Oh, and this is one of my facourite system desrciptions:

Strongly tempted to quote Betjeman here, but maybe it would be a better fit after the Thargoids take over.

Unfortunately, yes. An AMD GPU together with a more recent driver:

Yeah, that's a funny one, especially because I passed my ECDL (European Computer Driving License... don't laugh) in Slough and was often delivering in this town when working as a bike courier...

Yep. I thought about it too... Unfortunately, I find it hard to revert to the previous ones without ressorting to use a Microsoft driver when Rolling back, that's the cost of a fresh O.S install.

First would have said that this should be easy... but then I took a look at the AMD driver/support site. Those geniuses removed the 22.5.1 (that's the one that works) driver from the easy download list.
