Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Personally i'd give them a pass on this. Its just semantics and marketing speech. Par for the course with CIG, but nothing inherently wrong with saying they understand. I might use the same word if i was implementing a code to do something similar. I've done simple AI coding for NPCs myself, and its not unreasonable to use that word.
You need a job at Ci~G...considering the 'Ai' standing on the seats at the various space stations don't have a programmed intelligence at all, they're just animated non-reactive furniture assets set on rails to follow a preset path around a static environment...nothing more. Just like the trams and trains, props or set dressing is how I'd best describe the NPC's in star citizen, not 'Ai'.

My toaster in the kitchen has more programmed artificial intelligence than any of the NPC's in SC...including the reactive type only found in preset configured areas like bunker missions. 🤷‍♂️

Funny looking live-candidate....

Orison trams stacking on top of each other. And turning invisible?

Or just doubling up and killing people...

(And yep, server FPS right down in the single digits currently for some.)

EDIT:

Alpha 3.18 - PTU Update 3 - The Home Stretch

Star Citizen Alpha 3.18 is nearly out the door and on the live servers. As we mentioned earlier this week in This Week in Star Citizen, we'd like to team up with you for the final push. Over the weekend we are planning to run some critical stress tests on the PTU, starting on Friday. We're putting out the call for as many of you as possible to grab your sword, bow, axe, Pico plushie, or whatever else you've got on hand, and join us!
And my axe! (Fun fact, John Rhys-Davies, who plays Randall Graves in Squadron 42, played Gimli in Lord of the Rings!)

More fun facts:
  • Mark Hamill, who plays Old Man in Squadron 42, played Luke Skywalkers in Star Wars!
And
  • The home stretch is going to be on fire for a while ;)

Fitting that trams are sitting on each other then ;)

Well, sure, the difference between intent and delivery is huge, but i'm not going to rag them for their intent to make NPCs "understand" when to get on and off trams. I'll just laugh at the hilarious results.

Fun fact, Mark Hamill who plays Old Man in SQ42 played Co*knocker in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

Fun fact, Mark Hamill who plays OldMan in SQ42 also voiced the Joker in Batman the Animated Series, and all other entries in the DC Animated Universe, including many games based on the DCAU.

DC are not doing well in the film space, but they really knock it out of the park in the animated space. So many good animated series they do.

DC was trying to compete with Marvel Studios, without putting in the necessary foundational work required to create a Cinematic Universe. Which is ironic, considering that’s exactly what DC did with their Animated Universe, long before the MCU was even a thing…

And speaking of necessary foundational work, how’s that Star Citizen “verse” coming these days. Any sign of CIG adding a second system to the game anytime soon? ;)

This is a call for help! Someone is obviously holding agony hostage and this is how he is signaling us something is terribly wrong!!!!

Good news. CIG must be in close out and polishing mode.

This is a genius idea and I can foresee no issues...

EDIT:

Lol 😁

So, what did we learn today:
  • Soon players will also be trolled by NPCs busy messing up with transports, "AI indistinguishable from players" feature = CHECK!
  • Also: they're working on thinking about planning the reflexions around designing = PROGRESS!
  • There's more fun in the crater made by this clusterfarce of 0.0.3.18 updates than in the knee injured by an arrow in Skyrim.

Good news. CIG must be in close out and polishing mode.

They don't even get the number of systems right. They say 90, but the total sold to backers was 110, so another 109 to go.

Comments are fun.

Amazed ChatGPT3, sorry, i mean J3PT hasn't turned up to defend CIG's honour yet!

Not sure of the full story here, but it sounds like Nightrider took action against a user's post, edited the post to give a different meaning to what was said, and then moderated the poster in some way. Someone (possibly the same person) tried to make a thread objecting to this, and was also moderated against (banned?).

Anyone got the skinny on this?

Somethings always getting polished over there.

And "the fake SC refugee" is still going strong today. Totally unprompted. I'd post more but you guys are too untrusting. 😛
