I don't think it would have made a difference to my ranking, but I got killed by Thargoids on the way back in last night! I'd only been on a fairly short trip to Coalsack and back via a couple of small black holes so I didn't lose too much. I think I made top 10%, haven't logged in this morning to check. The main thing is I earned well over a billion credits which is a nice bump to the rebuy fund.

Ammonia World Survey Concludes

Pilots’ Federation ALERT

Aegis and Universal Cartographics have announced that the project to survey ammonia worlds has ended satisfactorily.

Special mention goes to Commander aRadish, Commander Lone WolfPack and Commander T'Verez for their efforts.

The exploration initiative was praised by Congressman Tom Gillespie, who oversees Federal contributions to Aegis:

“An impressive number of terrestrial planets with ammonia-based atmospheres were scanned and catalogued over the last two weeks. Universal Cartographics certainly considers the project to be a great success, and I know our xenological scientists do too.”

“This is the kind of task for which independent Commanders are absolutely unmatched in dedication and expertise, and they remain our indispensable allies.”

Vice Admiral Skylar Anderson, the Imperial military liaison to Aegis, added:

“This information is of considerable strategic value. Each system containing an ammonia world will be monitored using concealed sensor buoys. This will alert Aegis to the presence of Thargoid vessels or Maelstrom manifestations. Advance warnings will provide increased time to evacuate systems or mount pre-emptive strikes.”

Pilots can receive payment for their exploration data at Angus Manwaring starport in the Eta Cassiopeiae system. The promised x3 multiplier on exploration data profits for the next two weeks has also commenced, with Universal Cartographics providing this through its starport contacts.

I've never had a problem reading simple instructions. However, FDev does have a long and well-known history of poorly-worded CG text that has generated pages upon pages of player confusion and frustration.

White knight all you want, but that's a fact.
I'm not white knighting anything, I'm saying that if 99% of the players understood the instructions well enough, the problem is on the 1%'s side, not on Frontiers.

Wait, what? Does this mean we have to go to Angus Manwaring for the 3x bonus or any UC "starport contacts"? Yeesh.

This must be a bad joke.
I know, that in XXI century reading texts longer than 20 words can be difficult, so I will enlight you.
In next part you have ammonia WORLDS.

It's funny to see, when some people call people white knights only because they can read longer texts and understand them. Now I understand, why elite is described as "super difficult game with learning cliff". Because you cannot describe whole game with using 15 words.

Idk man, next time do you want 1 hour long video tutorial, or something like this?
<yes, it was rude, but I havent much empathy for people which fail in fight with short text, and after it blame everything for his mistakes>.

I already explained this. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/ammonia-world-survey-campaign-exploration.614744/post-10099481

Someone who doesn't know that there is such a thing as "ammonia world" as an entirely separate thing from just a rocky planet with an ammonia atmosphere, will get easily fooled by the fact that the CG description very clearly and unambiguously says that they are looking for "planets with ammonia atmospheres". Those things exist in abundance. To my estimate every 10th-20th system with planets you visit will have a planet or moon with ammonia atmosphere (and classified as such when you look at its details: "Atmosphere type: Ammonia".)

If you don't already know that "ammonia world" doesn't mean that, then you easily assume that when the same text uses that term, it's just a synonym. A shorter way of saying the same thing.

How hard is this to understand, honestly?

Maybe, maybe, if the CG description had only used the term "ammonia world" and nothing else, there would be more of an excuse. Then it's just a question of me (and I'm sure many others) not knowing what it means, and perhaps looking it up online. However, when the description very clearly and unambiguously starts with "planets with ammonia atmospheres" that sets up the confusion, especially for someone who doesn't know that "ammonia world" is not a synonym.

It only rubs salt to the wound when the conclusion text says “an impressive number of terrestrial planets with ammonia-based atmospheres were scanned and catalogued over the last two weeks." Almost feels like mockery.

(Yes, I know it's completely unintentional, but it just sounds like "haha, look at all those fools who scanned non-ammonia-world planets with ammonia atmospheres! We sure pulled a fast one on them fools!")

Ammonia world is ammonia world, thank you.
We have metal rich bodies
high metal content
rocky
rocky ice
icy
earthlikes
water worlds
AMMONIA worlds.
And srsly I don't understand, why some people thought, that in "ammonia world" they included other planet types.
99% of people understood it. Last 1% after seeing in 1 description "ammonia atmos" and after it ammonia worlds can always ask, instead mapping 104810 rocky moons with thin ammonia atmo and wasting their time.

Thank you!

This is my first CG event, and I had the same question as WildElf in regards to the bonus on exploration data.
Congrats. Welcome aboard the CG train. I've only done half-dozen myself, but they are usually fun. They normally offer a bit more than just a bit of cash too, like pre-engineered modules, decals, system permits, etc. I use INARA to keep track, as it offers a bit more info than in-game UI. Just be sure to link your commander to your INARA account. https://inara.cz/elite/communitygoals/

PSA: In case anyone is wondering, and this may be already posted elsewhere, the 3x payouts at Universal Cartographics seems to only apply to scans made AFTER the completion of the CG. Scans made before the completion of the CG have normal (1x) payouts, even if they were turned in to UC after the CG was completed. At least that's what I'm seeing.

That would mean Galnet literally lied this afternoon, yet again. smh

Aye. First time I played Elite, I only used EDSM, but this go around, based on the reading and video watching I did trying to catch up the last 2-years I've missed, I started by going to INARA and linking my account. Definitely worth it for the info.
