MATTER OF LIFE OR DEATH : Frontier Developments LLC generously provides us with a fresh recap of all the vague things that were discussed last week. Assuring their valued players that they are committed to providing effective, committed and consistently vague information on a weekly basis, by reminding us to not forget and check out the actual vague things, they talked about.

We accept this tithe. Godspeed Frontier. Godspeed.
If the Discovery Scanners actually are more of a bad vibe for many, Avod, then I'll absolutely take that on board and revise the idea. No worries.
Appreciate the constructive feedback there, for sure.

UNWORTHY: Senior Community Manager graces player with courteous response regarding their clear frustrations at Frontier Developments LLC communication policies as a whole.

Note : Whilst I appreciate you acknowledging the feedback (ever so kindly) Ms. Moore, slight to say that this feedback has been shared for quite a long time to Frontier , at times with Neon Lights. Then again, if we only respond to official threads, Neon Lights arent' as bright as they should be.

Safe to say, I'll have more information to share about this feedback at a later date. Stay tuned!

So just...to break it down a little bit...No more Discovery Scanners is preferred...right?
It's hard to make out, sorry.

Having no new info in a news update is a bit frustrating to many I'm sure, but highlighting the community events and stuff is always a good vibe.

UNEXPECTED: Senior Community Manager requests clarification from a member of the community, regarding their previously direct response with vague metaphors.

Note: well if you need the blunt and direct approach Ms. Moore. I assure you , I can deliver.

We're not getting any details about anything for content update, despite these candid weekly posts (Discovery Scanner). Even in the best efforts, all we are getting from yourself , Bruce and other valued Community Managers (doing their job), is nothing. Far lacking in what is clearly a wide community sentiment , (not all, but a decent portion to result in my conduct thus far)

In short, even if I were to take a moment to tell you a short "yes" or "no" to keep doing the Discovery Scanners, does it really matter ?

Stay Tuned!

Personally I do appreciate the weekly discovery scanner posts and the biweekly streams. Yes I suppose they could contain more detailed information, but I'm fine with it as is.

I would however very much appreciate a more proactive stance on bugs, be that through interaction in threads, a refactoring of the issue tracker, a monthly report, but most of all more actual bug fixing! I do know that there are plenty of bug fixes each release which aren't in the patch notes, and personally I'm not really affected by any bugs at the moment, still there are quite a few of them. I think that tackling a few of the major issues and being more communicative about it, would probably go a long way towards pleasing the majority of the players. Of course some will never be satisfied and will continue whining on the forum no matter what you do.. :)

@sallymorganmoore
Why do I get the feeling?

You are certainly delivering something, that's for sure! I'm not sure if you're aware, but software development takes a bit of time. The discovery scanner provides a means for the CMs to update on big issues, when updates are available, and a means to communicate with the community that things are still being worked on and moving forward when there isn't any news. Otherwise we would have gotten a note last week that Update 15 is delayed to May and then silence until...late April, first half of May when they're ready to talk about it again. I'm not sure what you're really trying to accomplish here, but all it's doing from my perspective is making you look rude.

I was worried for a moment you understood the whole jist of this entire thing. I was relieved for a moment , then re-read your response above, and then I'm suddenly anxious that we're in this typical situation of another forum member experiencing what is commonly called "selective reading".

Fret not! I assure you, other people can understand, whereas others may not. A balance am I right?

I honestly do prefer the blunt approach.
Thanks Avod!

Rubs hands...

Let's change this up from here on out.

I'm going to shuffle up Discovery Scanner.
It'll no longer be classed or assumed a "news outlet", to save you all the potential of frustration.

It'll be back to the good old days of "featured commanders" now and then, as we celebrate cool stuff happening in the Galaxy and will simply be posted as and when we have bumper editions (it'd still be lovely to do that kind of thing weekly, but all naturally depends on what's going on out there).

We'll post informative, "full, game development news only", and class it as such when we have it, with no weekly recaps or reassurance posts - just deliver you straight facts when we have them, to help - again - prevent frustration - so Commanders, it will be a strict case of "No news is good news" in many cases.

I'll look to factor in progress reports on issues and other notable topics, perhaps into Frameshift Live or a bespoke article when possible to do so - absolutely understand that those kind of information nuggets and progress reports are highly desirable, for good reason. We can also provide update reassurance as part of livestreams and larger scale news communication where suitable too.

Right!

Let's do this o7

Thanks everyone!

Bummer...I prefer to be reminded weekly so I don't have far to go when looking for the latest news...

That's a shame, I really liked the weekly round up.

I appreciate the hard work you and the rest of the team do to keep us fanatics informed but happy, no matter how it will turn out.
The communication improved massively in the past two years, and the streams and posts are a blessing to the community.

In the end, it's not you who decide what information is there to share, so people (including me sometimes) will get frustrated or impatient eventually.
I think it's important to note that it's a sign of the passion many have for this game, not an evaluation of the work the community management team is doing.

Glad we have you, o7
