Twilight pack was an exception tbh... and it shows by the reception in this forum (myself included lol)

Grasslands got 2 in the top 10 but a wallaby was highly requested as well, and the caracal was in the top 30. The siamang in the Conservation pack pretty much was the choice for a gibbon species which was in the top of the list (which they added now with the Tropical pack).

Wetlands added platypus, small clawed otter and capybara, all of them high in the list and a non-ratite non-penguin bird for the first (and apparently last) time.

So yeah maybe not all animals in the top 10 will feature in one pack but looking at them you kind of can make a guess of the kind of packs they could be part of, and they are basically forests, deserts and tundra? (maybe).

Yeah, I think for the most part starting with the Europe pack (so excluding the NAAP which wiped out half the top 10 with one release), we've been regularly getting 2 to 3 animals that were pretty highly requested. And actually, if anything, we're getting more of them starting with Grasslands.

Europe - Lynx/Ibex
Wetlands - Capybara/Platypus, and the ASCO was top 20 at the time, I believe
Conservation - Prezwalski's Horse, Amur Leopard, Siamang (subbing in those gibbon votes), we actually got really lucky on this pack since it's a scenery pack
Twilight - Wombat with both the Red Fox and Raccoon being in the top 30 (maybe even top 20?)
Grasslands - Maned Wolf, Emu and the Caracal and Wallaby were, IIRC, both top 20?
Tropical - Red River Hog, Lar Gibbon, Fossa, and like it or not the Sloth counts so that's actually 4 on that as well.

This is just my opinion, but I do think it likely Frontier is trying to front load these DLCS at this point, with 2, 3 or even 4 animals from with the top 20, while still including ad oddball and surprise animal per pack, if not more than one of those.

Thanks everyone for keeping the thread alive even if some contributions were a bit unfortunate in my eyes.

I really don't have the time nor the will to write a very lengthy post to defend all the work that has been put here (and every other meta-wishlist).
All I'll say is that this thread was meant as a "service" to the community from the beginning and I never manipulated any votes to favour any personal preferences or whatever X animal.
I'll stand by what @ReptoMin and others kindly exposed here. The rules regarding general votes have been in the OP and very clear from the beginning. ReptoMin and I noticed that indeed at some point last year direct votes to (Linnaeus) two-toed sloth actually surpassed direct votes to (Brown-throated) three-toed sloth. As per the rule, votes for a general 'sloth' HAD TO be moved to the most popular species (Linnaeus) within that 'sloth' group.

As things stood by Xmas time, votes for sloths were the following:
Linnaeus: 116
Generic: 100
Brown-throated: 81

Checking that count vote by vote is an extremely time-consuming task so we should actually be thankful that someone stepped in and actually did that, otherwise the list would have been deceptive.

Final thoughts: it's a game -enjoy it-, don't be so mad at whatever animal choices are made - getting DLCs at all this year is already a blessing-, use mods if the game doesn't please your desires.

PS: most likely scenario now is that I'll remove all the sloths from the list as they're now considered Exhibit animals.

This is perfectly expressed. We all thought that 2022 was the final year, remember y'all?

Anyways, I've just come to learn that any animal is a great addition, no matter if it's the correct species or a reskin/clone

I honestly did not thought that but good words from Random Goat. But one sentence to the final words: It is both, a Blessing and the still great community engagement (Here at the Forum or elsewhere) leading to good DLC Sales making the game still financial succesful in a way that it is worth to bring us further content for Frontier 🙂

Absolutely love this thread, I don't really get involved in it but did add my top 25. I love checking in and seeing peoples votes and so on! No better time to say thanks for all the hard work from all those involved to get this list going and up to date, frontier clearly take notice! Shame you had to make that post to explain something like that.


A sloth is a SLOTH I'm so damn happy we got any!!!

Keep up the good work, like I said love the meta-wishlist and how it evolves with every dlc (even if it does make me cry everytime I see kirks dik dik down in 55, I MEAN COME ON PEOPLE!!!)

Well, I am glad to see that we finally get to get the Fossa and a Lar Gibbon. But I would like to see these 25 animals in the game.

I haven't submitted new animals for a long time because I think I got myself messed up on where I stood for substitutions, but I just wanted to express thanks to RandomGoat and all others who have put an effort into calculating this and the first list over the last two plus years.

When the original list was put out in December 2020, and well into 2021 there was thought that we might not even get content into 2022! Indeed, I think I was among those who thought 2022 was possible, but also that 2021 could be the final year. And anything beyond into 2023? Well, until midlast year I still thought that and I've never been happier to be wrong about something.

I'm very thankful for Frontier and their overall selection of animals - you can't please everyone, and not every animal is going to be a hit with every single person, and I bet every single person has animals that they've been wanting since launch that are not and will not make it in. It's how life works. Not everyone gets everything they want. I'm just really happy Frontier has hit so many wanted animals, and I do believe that much this last years's selection has been mostly formed by the meta list. Probably a lot of 2021 as well. I think it was the Africa pack that we really started seeing a high amount of very highly requested animals, which makes sense, as that was 6 months after the first list. They have to have some lead time to creation.

Aside from two main points (birds and new world monkeys) they're really leaning heavily into the list. I look forward to this whole year!

My AGAINST Votes are AGAINST:
1: American Black Bear (how can you wish for this over the much more needed and awesome Spectacled Bear)
2: Asian Lion, African Leopard, whatever, those type of animals, 100% same with different country names.
3: Different types of zebra’s and giraffe, they should be FREE updates, not taking places of more needed animals.

First of all, I want to express my gratitude to @random goat for still managing this list after such a long time! It's an amazing asset that we have as a community and it's great to be able to track its development as we get new much-wanted species in the game.

If I didn't miss anything, the replacement rule still counts. If so, I'd like to make 5 additions as some species were added in the past DLCs. Here are my original lists:
