Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I must be in a bad place then. It's almost a void where I am.

Right. See this picture:

That's me, that is.

You see, a long, long time ago, in a sector far, far away (yesterday, Inner Orion Spur), I had a filter set to seek out industrial economies. Can you guess my next sentence?

Hmm...

Even though I cocked up my map filter, there's still very few stars here. Colour me puzzled. Maybe it's just getting late and the beer cocoa is kicking in.

So... err, how many industrial economies are you finding out there in the formadine rift ?
😜

You may scoff, but I found erm... no, wait, I got it... I think... er... strangely, very few. Actually just one.

There was a planet inhabited by Guardians who welcomed me with open arms and gave me all sorts of useful ship upgrades. My carrier can now fly and land like a ship and has 150 AX Destrtucto lasers, a hull that caustic substances just dont touch and scanners that detect Thargoid frame shft wakes twenty Kessel runs away.

The Guardians said it was their home world (Usul - the mouse shadow in the second moon) and they called it "Raxxla". *

* It really is time for bed. Goodly byeload. **

** I'm embracing my inner Stanley Unwin.

Well a rift sort of implies the gap between two arms for me so I would be expecting a lower density of stars.

Well yes and no - the sector called The Formidine Rift actually includes part of the Outer Arm of the galaxy. Of course this is at the virtual tail-end of that arm and so is a rather tenuous collection of stars in what is already a tenuous arm. As I said above, the galaxy map makes it look more sparsely populated than it really is, compare what I posted above with this for example:

edited for a typo, sorry

Check the Star Type route filter also - it’s an all-too-ez mistake to make too - have left it on and wondered what happened to all the stars before, especially after an FC jump to a sector with differing distribution… ;]

That arm doesn’t end there either - it carries on into Kepler’s Crest and actually tapers off in the unreachable region…

Hence my use if the wording " the virtual tail-end of that arm " - yes it does continue into Kepler's Crest where it is labelled as "The Outer Arm Vacuus", in other words the empty part of the Outer Arm. I have never bothered to try to wander into Xibalba since that is "a place of fear". ;)

Just wondering if this is a known bug... a ringed icy planet ...with no ring?

I've occasionally had a bug where the rings did not draw. Restarting fixed it. This may or may not be something like that. :)
Also some rings are very tenuous and dark people have found them by colliding with them before seeing them.

Ahh thankyou - might also have something to do with an RX 6xxx GPU too...?
Possibly that card series and it’s drivers have from what I have read caused many issues.
