Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

So sorry, are you setting they’re the same, or that the RTX bit is different? I think they’re the same but for sale with each retailer, so I can just buy the Scan one (getting my earlier Box Acer but not having to buy from Box). But I’m a dolt at such things.

I think he was replying to a few comments. The last two links you posted are identical machines.

If pricing is reasonable, one will always want to choose a Ti version of the RTX card over the non-Ti.

Keep in mind, it's still a laptop GPU, so it's not going to be as powerful as its desktop counterpart. This laptop GPU draws 150W of power while the desktop version draws 290W. This will directly impact the card's performance. But, it's still a GREAT card!!

Agreed with the "Ti" point. I'd have brought the Ti version of my card too but the budget was a bit tight.

The Scan machine spec statees:
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU

While the Box machine is showing:
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070Ti 8GB

It's that "ti" that makes the difference - not all of the £300 but a chunk of it.
Sorry, I have (understandably) confused you. My earlier post was comparing two differnt machines and asking what the difference was. But following up on your suggestion to try building one up on the Scan site, I actually found what I thought was the same Box Acer on the Scan site for the same money - hence thinking myself an idiot for having missed it previously. So that was my last post. As a couple of you have now confirmed that I posted the same machine twice (but from two different sites), I am happy that the wall of specs and numbers was talking about the same machine. So I will go with the Scan option (especially as it has this Ti doodad, which while a mystery to me is better). Thank you & sorry to have confused your otherwise-lovely thread with my incompetence. I have caught up, now, finally. Thank you.

Thank you very much, you're quite right. And thank you for the feedback. Given I also need to do a bit of work on the machine, and sometimes work from our house overseas, I'm stuck on the laptop route (which reduced my usual poor knowledge of PC's to remedial knowledge of laptops). I will buy the Scan machine and stop pestering now.

Thank you both, for both responses and patience. Appreciated, Commanders. o7

He's not wrong about any of it, LOL

Actually, his analysis of the 10-scale rating is one of the best explanations I've heard.
It really reminds me of my first few days (weeks...) playing Elite :D

The vid does leave me wondering if I shoulld try a VR headhugger at some point. I think my rig could handle it but the outlay... I'm not sure Mrs. Tyres would approve.

Mrs. Wonko and I have a tacit agreement of 'don't ask, don't tell'. This is why I have some cool toys and she has 6,432,587 pairs of shoes.

Once a month now? The Devs must all be leaving so there won't be any more content and bugs won't get squashed and the servers will go into maintenance mode.

My trick is to have two aged MG's in the garage. The amount I have had to sink into those over the years has caused the ever-lovely Mrs Templar to think any gaming-related expenditure a mere drop in the ocean, with the added benefit that while gaming I can't be fixing/breaking more parts on the cars.
Cool bananas! Hope it all works out and does what you need it to.
Thank you - will be back out in the black soon, this time with my choice of HUD colour, IIRC. Exciting times, it's good to be back. Thanks again for your help.
