Rare/non-exist animal in captivity wishlist

Hi everyone! :)
I'm opening another wishlist thread that isn't on the usual continental/regional topic.

In this thread, I explained why it would be important for Frontier to sometimes include animals in the game that are very rare or not in captivity:

  1. All users may submit maximum 18 species, but could be less, if you want.
  2. Mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fishes and invertebrates are allowed.

Saiga
Shoebill (which is in captivity and does much better than most big cats and eagle-species as well)
Leopard Seal
Elephant Seal
Indri
Marine Iguana
Kakapo

All very unique and awesome looking/behaving animals, realism lovers should just ignore them in their real world zoo builds, i want to have fun with them

5. Occelated turkey
7. American crocodile

American crocodile and ocellated turkey are definitely not rare in captivity. The former might be rare in Europe, but has a significant presence in zoo collections throughout the Americas, while the latter, ocellated turkey is comparable to the wild turkey in its number of holdings, even in Europe.

1) Sumatran rhino
2) Shoebill
3) Saiga
4) Tasmanian devil
5) African leopard

Only five for now, but I might add more later, if allowed.

I removed both, but I wanted to ask about them.
So, I got it from you, thanks! 🙂

Ok, so now also the Tasmanian Devil joins this list of unrealistic animals???? What is next? Secretary Bird, Markhor and Gerenuk?

I feel like there needs to be a proper definition for what constitutes a rare animal in captivity for this list to work (for example, maybe species kept in less than 10-5 zoos worldwide?). For example, lace monitors and Tasmanian devils have already been listed, and while they're uncommon to rare in international zoos they're super commonly kept in Australia and have significant captive populations.

In most wanted to less order:

Leopard seal
Marine iguana
Saiga
Perentie
Coconut crab
Chiru/ tibetan antelope
Kakapo
Indri
Ethiopian wolf

Where did you get that idea from? The wishlist allows rare animals, not only "unrealistic" choices. You yourself voted for shoebill, and it is not an unrealistic or unethical choice either, just relatively rare.

Ok, rare in captivity, eh?

  1. Tasmanian devil - from an international standpoint, they are quite rare. However, in Australia and Tasmania, they're common
  2. Shoebill - I had the opportunity to see one at the Houston Zoo many years ago, although I was never interested in it at the time (I was 14 and didn't know much about it, plus the exhibit smelled horrible)
  3. Red wolf - this may be controversial, but I consider red wolves their own species. They are very rare, both in the wild (practically extinct) and in captivity
  4. Sumatran rhinoceros - these were found in captivity at some point, and while they aren't common now, I'd say they are important enough to add
  5. Saiga - a rare antelope. Their distinct look brings a nice charisma to the game
  6. Alagoas currasow - only 130 in captivity, in the world, exist
  7. Sifaka lemur - any sifaka that isn't the Coquerel's (but I'll say Coquerel's just because I think of them)
  8. Houston toad (E) - the Houston toad is very rare, only found in Houston (I had no idea). The Houston Zoo helps in breeding these endangered amphibians
