While this news makes me sad, I can only be happy that you make a decision to your benefit. Let me add my thanks to all those who have come before. I remember the old days of Slopey's BPC (Best Price Calculator) tool, which we fed data using a screenshot OCR utility. Yes, we took screenshots, and pasted them into an application which read the market information out of the bitmap, and uploaded it to the server.
I'm currently not using EDMC though. I started running ED Discovery for the information that it displays (Docking Denied reason, material counts, Coriolis links) and then recently found out that it also uploads market information to Inara and EDDB. So I don't launch EDMC any more as it would be duplicating the data feed.

The only reason I ever run ED Discovery is when I'm out exploring. It's an excellet tool for that. But for me, while I was in the Bubble trading and the like, I much preferred running EDMC because it's very light and has a very small window to the point you don't even notice it's running.
I'm going to miss that.
Same with Thrudds when I first started playing - I really liked that site.
It's not like EDMC is going away. Unless and until there's some breaking game change it will continue to work as it does now with the 5.8.1 release. Historically the wider EDCD community have had an interest in keeping it going (it's how I got involved), so I'd expect it won't die.

Yeah, good old OCR days:
lol - I didn't even use a regex back then - just parsed it off coords. Actually worked surprisingly well with some snippets off of codeproject, and (don't judge) VB.Net!
The only time I saw my EDMC icon disappear from being pinned to the start menu was after an EDMC update. It always came back on next reboot/relogin. No, I don't know why that happens. It will be something to do with the installer configuration.
How do you start EDMC?
I have an icon as a link on the desktop after installation. With a double click on the desktop icon EDMC starts.
Now I copied this icon/link into the start menu directory and tested the start (single click) = OK.
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs Copied this icon/link to the tile area and tested it, it works too. Try my way.
