Gliaves are Winning.

Greetings.

Ok. I was doing my thing in an Asp Explorer going someplace never designed for combat much less with Thargoids and got hyperdicted with two Gliaves in a system near Thargoid control systems that was not on the Galaxy Map as Thargoids would not be there. Well they were. I have piloting skills dealing with Thargoids but of course with the Gliaves I won't win. Given I cannot get my FSD to work with so many missiles I cannot evade.

What I noticed is even in my very weak Asp Explorer they took some time to lower my shields, attack my modules and eventually lower my hull to a rebuy screen. Maybe we should investigate that for dedicated Thargoid builds using advance Guardian weapons before they shut them down. It seems that we have time to before they destroy us give us time to work on a solution to destroy them. It might be our advantage. Just an idea.

Or maybe I should go just play my guitar hoping to be anywhere even close to this great musician Tom Iberra planyng the same guitar I have while Frontier decides what the heck are they doing to the game upsetting so many players? Add this to the guitar thread on the Forum.

Regards

Wait, you got Hyperdicted in a system that was in what state? Your wording is unclear, it sounds like you're saying you got Hyperdicted in a system not under Thargoid Alert, Invasion, or Control, which should be impossible(outside of the Pleiades, and those bugs are friendly-ish).

If you filter your Galaxy Map by Civilization, and uncheck the "Thargoid" box, you can safely avoid ever accidentally wandering into the warzone.

Also, as you noticed, they aren't very strong, just fast. They only require AX Multicannons(or Missles), which are available to all at any Rescue Ship.

And finally, there's already a 8-9 page thread about this in Dangerous Discussion.
Unless you were actually Hyperdicted in a Human to Human jump, in which case, Issue Tracker.

I got hyperdicted by two Gliaves in a system close to the Thargoid invasion where the Galaxy Map said where it was human controlled. Didn't work out that way. Another bug? I could post on the 9 page thread with so many griping about getting Frontier to change it. My thread is dealing with the challenges Frontier added and the ship and weapons builds to deal with them Let's discuss possible solutions. It is a lot easer to complain.

Which systems were you jumping to and from exactly?
It does sound like a bug, unless this is some undocumented intentional change. But I've not seen nor heard anything about Thargoids attacking in Human Controlled systems, and I've been jumping back and forth between Maelstroms clearing Invasions for several days concurrently since Update 15.1

No more easy "Fly me to the moon" jam sessions any more then CMDR? Well, there's always the trusted and wonderful 12 bar to drown our sorrows... :ROFLMAO:

are you sure your routing didn't take you through Thargoid space? if you next jump is a control sytem (people have reported it might also happen in invasion and alert systems, but it has yet to happen to me) then yes, you can get hyperdicted by Glaives, and the hyperdiction takes you and the Glaives back to the (non-invaded) system you are coming from.

I have yet to be hyperdicted when jumping fromnon-infested system to non-infested system. I suspect user/routing error.

i think a guitar matches the glaive topic very well, because i imagine many treat first encounters with glaives and guitars the same.
this sucks! i dont want to play with you! >:c huffs n puffs

I think first it is time to fit appropriate shields and armor to every ship.
True enough. All my ships, save my Robigo runner, and my T9 for CG hauling, already have shields and at least base HD/DP armor. The base armor and very small'ish shields on the explorer ships probably will not work well against the glaives... but I have not run into them yet. Unless I go looking into the war systems. Good reminder for everyone.

Seems a shame - build diversity was always something I liked about ED.
There is a difference between build diversity and minmaxed paper planes. You can still purpose build your ships any way you like; just be aware to purpose build your ship correctly for the war zone. Here, you have to reserve some of your build capacity for protection, or you die. You don't drive a Fiat 500 into a war zone in real life for a reason.

Well, I'm jumping out of this Thargoid war for the foreseeable future. With this new "Hunter/Glaive variant" the rebuys are killing me and it's starting to suck the fun out of the game. If someday FDEV decides to rebalance them I may return. Till that day I'm going back to assassinations and exploration.

I've killed two hunters (and one) and I'm a novice at AX combat and I was in an unoptimised ship (granted, it was an engineered Corvette but still in no way optimised for proper AX combat). They are hellish to escape from but killing them is easier than the stronger interceptors (no hearts to exert I guess). I did it with just AX gimbled MCs but I imagine they'd die fast to 6x LR shards as well.

I'm actually working on unlocking the LR shards now so I can try this. All interceptors can just be ran away from but I'd like to be able to murder cyclopse and glaive targets if they interdict me.
