Its seems its only unfair for you because you actually did care that someone managed to have it ealier that you did....(what a tragedy indeed), I didnt knew that scanner was available before CG ended, even if I would did (I would just skip CG and buy it - but I attented at CG for PVP more than anything else - like usual), its hardly unfair... Mainly because module itself aint its that much great, and given its only credits to obtain... well as might skip CG in such case and buy it later, if really would felt I must have it no matter what... Still, its not bad thing if module was relased ealier, its always better than it being relased later than expected or in limited amounts, wich undoubtly make way more unfair for a lot of others.
For CG's in itself;
Well, the reward for top 25% and above wich is free scanner that cost otherwise 800k (no need any "unlock" grind - very good), its always better than just nothing, atleast an litte bonus for those who did put some effort in CG. CG with any "extra" rewards are always for attracting more cmdrs into cause. Still, even if there would be no free module, CG itself still would be done like it did, because lot of cmdrs aint have anything else to do, even more so if CG its related to ongoing lore as well, instead of random "help" for some backyard fraction. In entire history of CG's had been in elite, there was no single one that was related to lore, wich had not succeded in a way or another.
It was unfair. Of course it was. The early release of the module was a mess and it turns out the whole purpose for doing the CG was just to continue a narrative rather than actually go for a worthwhile goal.
So what I'm caring about isn't the fairness but that the efforts people put in was for essentially nothing. FDev played this out badly.
I would certainly not have bothered with the CG if I knew the module could later be bought for menial credits.
In my opinion, I think any module on offer for a CG reward, should otherwise be locked to players who did not take part, and they have to unlock that module by handing in materials. At least putting in some kind of effort for it. CG players should get the module 7 days earlier too perhaps for their efforts. That would be the reward for people's time.
FDev seem to have a need for people to constantly invest time into the same. Maybe it's to inflate the Steam numbers, I dunno. But it's not a very healthy approach to take and it's been going on for a while now.
Of course we invest the time we want to, but still we are drawn in.
Of course the module was 'better than nothing' but it wasn't worth 7.5 hrs of my time. Particularly when they messed up by releasing it early.
I normally would never trade 7.5hrs of my life for a 828,000CR module. It's just a ludicrous waste of time, which is what the CG essentially was.
If you think about that 1 trade run of Gallium made enough profit to by 4 of those modules - not to mention my current 11.7 billion.
If a CMDR does a pointless CG because they had nothing else better to do, that's on them. I can't speak for others.
I only hope FDev learn a better way than this shambles.
