It is used this way by many players in the community, but a newbie not familiar with the game and the details might only be told that this is the first "proper expansion", discounting all the DLCs beforehand because they have zero knowledge about the actual game.

If you take it from most games, I’ll use Forza Horizon 5 for example, an expansion would be a map expansion, like the hot wheels or rally maps. A DLC would be a car pack. For PZ idk what could be considered an ‘expansion’ since we haven’t gotten anything that fits in that category.
Also the poster may not know anything about the game. He's just been told by others that this is the first expansion pack (in a way to differentiate it from the less substantial DLCs that preceded it) and since he has no knowledge about the game or the DLCs, he just repeats what he's told with no context added.

I dunno. Assuming that this "leak" is true, I doubt it'll come in fall. Fall will likely be a standard DLC. I'm hoping for a more temperate, cold climate pack. Last 3 packs were featured around hot climates, and, living in Texas where the weather has been 100 °F (about 37 °C), but FEELS like 120 °F (about 48 °C), I'm really hating the heat. Bring me a tundra pack, y'all

Wrong. My uncle actually works at the Pyongyang Zoo, and a certain game company who makes zoo game was looking at their domestic dogs for reference.
The way to go at the moment to avoid too high expectations and later huge disappointment is to expect this was a Troll Post. As Long as nothing official comes from Frontier or any serious leak (Like it was with the Sun Bear and Penguin for example) I will not expect any birds based DLC. Golden rule of the Internet, do not trust random anonymous users posting random stuff, especially If they are not verified and even more when they just registered and posted only one single thing.
For people indifferent about birds and wouldn't be too upset if they were excluded from the game, analysing this rationally there is about a toss-up chance of this being real or fake.
If any more info leaks, it is certainly fake. But right now, it's 50/50.
I mean it is really your own thing what you are reading out from this post on that Forum. My personal view at the moment is that it is a 90 per cent or more chance to be fake as long as we get no reliable source. Everybody can post something on the Internet. I mean it would be a good thing and clearly would make clear that life span is longer but the first chance we could get more information about a potential Expansion (and also potential more DLCs) will be mid September when we get the full annual report.
By my judgement:
1) Clever enough to use/steal a real junior employee name at the zoo. To clarify, it would be nice if we could contact this person. Then if it wasn't them they could clear this up really quickly.
2) Clever to use convincing halting/not that fluent english.
3) Clever to edit the post less than 1 hour after the furore. So far they haven't logged back on yet either so maybe tomorrow when they realise how much they've screwed up they will delete their account and their post. It would be clever if the troll did this because it mimics real life behaviour.
4) Clever enough to resist leaking "lots of stuff" for attention. Impressive self-control for a troll.
5) Clever enough to pretend to not know much about the game ("first expansion pack")
6) Clever to link the Frontier partnership with the broader theme of detailing a bunch of other promotional efforts made by the zoo. If these promotional efforts exist, this troll really did their homework.
Basically, if this is a troll they are playing 4D chess with us. Of course, such people exist. But equally, I think it's possible this is genuine/inadvertent screw up by someone.

Since Fronier likes collaborating with Shepreth Wildlife Park, I just had a look at their website to see what other animals from that zoo could come soon. I think the coati, the European hedgehog, the rabbit or the Scottish wild cat could be next in line. Of course, there have been packs with no animals from Shepreth so nothing is guarenteed.

As someone who's been active on ZooChat for 6 years, I am surprised to see this even mentioned here.
I am even more surprised to see people treating it as real, the site has a long history of stupidly high effort trolling and the mods are pretty good at telling when it's a troll or not.
It's not impossible for it to be real but to go out of your way to call this "4D Chess" is giving this random person way too much credit lol.

I think that is is likely a troll, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was real either.
Bids and are very complex creatures and would probably require some in-person experience to model, animate, record sound for, and so on. We have the Egyptian Fruit Bat as our only flying animal, (excluding butterflies as they are less detailed) and birds are very different. Animating the birds to take off, land, and fly correctly would be very difficult compared to the usual ground-dwelling animals they usually make. Bird Paradise has only opened in May, and is very new. It is possible they decided on it because it has the modern conservation approach that Planet Zoo wants to showcase in it’s games.
The fact that it is all the way in Singapore however is definitely suspicious. Also the wording wasn’t the best. This could be because they are a troll, or because they don’t speak English very well, considering English isn’t the only national language. There are a number of factors on either side of the argument, and it is too early to tell if it is a genuine leak or not. Like @becks474 said, it’s best not to get our hopes up.

Plus, as I mentioned earlier, even if it is true, it likely won't even arrive in fall.
I highly doubt a super requested feature like birds would be released this "early". I'm sure the smart move, from a business standpoint, is to release it by the end of the year.
If anything, I'm pretty sure that fall will be a standard pack, and with the way the last few updates and DLCs have been, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a petting zoo pack

IMO, Fall will be a 'Temperate Pack' covering a handful of forest species (Tasmanian devil, three 'reskin'/'clone' species, "Temperate Themed" set modelled after something obscure), and then Winter will be a 'Continental Animal Pack' with a focus on highlands/mountains, where we'll see the markhor, takin, probably the gelada, and (possibly) the Pallas cat now that the sand cat rig is there to be used for another small cat.
Say something like Tasmanian Devil, Muntjac, Black Bear and Wild Boar?
I wouldn't bet on a muntjac but who knows? If they add a third deer, Pere David's seems more likely to me, or an Indian deer like the barasingha or chital. As for the bear, I wouldn't guess - I think the spectacled bear is a shoe-in for a "continental"/mountain pack too.
Likely we get a Pere Davids Deer but in my opinion it is the same for deer as it is for antelopes. We are missing a really small one within the game In case of Deer the Muntjac or Pudu, in Case of antelopes the Dik Dik or Klipspringer.
We are missing large ones the most! like the greater kudu and giant eland
