For what it's worth, directing what I can towards the Disconnected control systems in Taranis - Carrier '[AXI] Invicta' in Imeut will be buying samples at max price, got 1k so far for Trianguli Sector KR-W b1-1, working towards that, HIP 25670 and Matshiru, then Hyades Sector IM-L b8-5/Trianguli Sector JW-W b1-6 and the alert as cleanup if we get there. Well aware that 25670 should be about 3k and Matshiru 5k, but, if they're all secured they'll Stay secured at least.

It removes one nice invasion to defend but that's being blocked as an alert consistently these days anyway, also blocks off that general area until the thargoids Successfully attack somewhere to springboard again, if it gets done.

M.Taranis - Trianguli Sector GG-Y c18 - 2 planetary outposts under alert/attack. 12k ls.
And prepare enough small coins to pay the fines. :)
I can add here, 65 Kappa Tauri (Alert), Levchenko Terminal, starport 70 kLs, no fire AX CZ;
Desurinbin (Alert), Stackpole Penal Colony, planetary port, 2,8 kLs, 0,3g.; Spielberg Ring starport, but 456 kLS far from the main star.

If I may suggest:
  • Make Matshiru the top priority there; while it may be a bit too costly to get M. Taranis below four populated attacks this week, stopping Matshiru will give us the prospect of getting it below five.
  • Indeed Trianguli Sector KR-W b1-1 also needs to go; I was going to offer that later this week, but it is well that you have already 1000 of the needed 1648!
  • HIP 25670 is only of immediate value if you intend clearing also Hyades Sector GB-N b7-2 at 9.74 Ly to guard HIP 25679, or clearing both Hyades Sector FB-N b7-3 at 15.48 Ly and Trianguli Sector KR-W b1-4 at 21.13 Ly to guard Imeut, where both of those paths also depend upon those two higher priorities first. Otherwise, it is fine to postpone that for now.
  • Hyades Sector IM-L b8-5 is only of aesthetic concern at present.
  • Be careful with clearing Trianguli Sector JW-W b1-6; at present it helps M. Taranis to attack the weak Trianguli Sector JW-W b1-1 ahead of some inhabited systems which could risk entering focus inadvertently! This is best left until after the possible inhabited targeting has collapsed.
With those first two aside and Vukurbeh safe, I can schedule the seven other evictions to guard Cao Tzu, Lubal, Lovaroju and HIP 22052, and I plan also to recapture Rikbakara just in case the Thargoid Council likes the look of Cheditjala a bit too much. Those will come after emptying M. Thor of targets; by all means accelerate that plan in the meantime if you like, for I would also quite like to start a similar process at M. Cocijo!

Already, a victory in Trianguli Sector JW-W b1-1! Between this evening and next, all ten M. Thor attackers in the Alert report for this week can be considered to have their completion warranted.

Sorry, went off to hoard - KR-W b1-1 now topped up, personally detoured and got 1190 samples towards FL-Y b5 to take Lubal out too - Not letting that one come back to haunt me.

Trouble with Matshiru is just, it relies on a level of support I cannot guarantee - I can soldier through 25670 solo if necessary, where 5k is a bit steep - so, left it for a little later to see how everything else went... at the moment due to the conflict zones out there, JW-W and IM-L are where the broader, combat-focus folk leaned towards - essentially got all samples needed there. Only deliveries to carrier so far for 25670 are my own, none for Matshiru - Had listed all 5 systems for folk to choose from.

25679 in part was recaptured to make a better Invasion for the combat only folk to defend, one that wouldn't be finished in 18 hours or as easy to repel as an alert - and that would have a second chance if it proved too much to do in one week, rather than 26688's one-port wonder situation - so, blocking it would both remove that potential and seeing how much difference 1Ly makes compared to 23716 - test the waters a little far as Gandje, which the more enthusiastic samplers are still gathering for in the background, they're up to 9k last i heard.

JW-W b1-6, IM-L b8-5, Matshiru, and 25670 all are in range to target 26688 on rotation, getting all of them would take it off the list entirely.
Rough idea assuming absolute minimum/nil support was just to work on securing the systems that are entirely obstructed from Thargoid threat at this time - filling in the territory now closed off, and using Imeut(regularly successfully defended)/25679 as lasting chokepoints.

If they all go through and there's time to spare, will see about Imeut's pair, then maybe Ebisu direction - will have to see.

For @Grimscrub, understood regarding HIP 25679; it is fine that GB-N b7-2 may still attack it. Beyond that, however M. Taranis turns out later this week, I will still try to help collapse its targets a bit even if Matshiru is still around and it will still attack five inhabited for now. Stopping it a bit at a time that way should work wonders for stymying it later!

Short update - 25670 samples secured, Matshiru in progress - going to try and power through it over the weekend. Should definitely be able to fit the samples for KR-W b1-4 at least, afterward, may have to offload before FB-N.

Gandje group's now over 10k, morale has risen given its nearing two-thirds so, folk that side are getting more enthusiastic - will keep an eye.
Barring burnout will reinforce wherever's notable after Imeut's locked down.

Leigong, now having just one remaining; Jementi and Ceti Sector XJ-A c18 can attack Garongxians, which I am a bit inclined to prevent after some more meddling at M. Taranis.

Speaking of which, I have Rikbakara awaiting delivery in full to take Cheditjala out of any future Thargoid consideration, and beginning harvest momentarily will be Hyades Sectors QN-T c3-10, EG-N b7-4 and GB-N b7-3 to guard Popongo, Cileut and QN-T c3-19. The present plan is to meet the efforts of @Grimscrub et alia; assuming that Imeut is guarded (a huge achievement!), that will also guard Vukurbeh automatically. Meanwhile, I can schedule the protection of HIP 22052, Lovaroju and Cao Tzu, and we can review Lubal later given that it was mentioned earlier and Trianguli Sector FL-Y b5 was underway already.

It would be nice to get Matshiru back. It was the very first system we worked on.

Apropos of nothing much, for most people it's remember Wakata but for us it was always remember Matshiru first, a system taken before anyone could save it by the timer bug that was ticking down a week every day. Systems lost to that were never restored, just left as they were, which put everyone on the back foot right from the beginning.

Been looking through the squad orders I wrote at the time, interesting to compare what we were trying to discover then and what we know now;
PDES Evacuation Orders

December 1st
System - Population - Factions

1 - Top Priority! - Matshiru - 1206 - 3 Indy, 2 Empire, 1 Fed.

Yesterday this had one active port. The Port is now in an emergency state. Deliveries are gone from the Mission Board and there are only missions to Evacuate the Wounded. The Passenger Board is unchanged. Let us see if we can stop the Port entirely falling to Thargoids.

December 2nd
URGENT - SAVE MATSHIRU

People have been abandoning Matshiru because the War Tab says there are no active ports. The assumption is nothing more can be done. We now know this is not correct.

We could not know till yesterday but when the last Port in a system goes down there is still a chance to save it if we respond immediately.

"Active Ports Remaining: 0" does not mean immediate shutdown or takeover. It remains in human control for a while, how long we don't know but while it does the last Port can still be saved from completely falling into Thargoid control.

The Port, Lopez-Alegria Works, is described as having "significant damage" but is still operating.

The Mission Board has lost the Delivery Missions but has many more Evacuate the Wounded Missions. The Passenger Board has the same evac missions as before.

"Active" in this context therefore seems to mean no longer able to take on supplies but not finished if enough people can be evacuated quickly, perhaps in order for the Port to receive supplies again to repair it. We'll see how that part plays out if we can stop it collapsing first.

December 5th
Congratulations for getting the progress bar moving in Matshiru. Good to know our hunch on Thursday was right and focusing on evacuating the wounded is the best way to eventually get the Port to start taking deliveries again to repair it with, as we move Matshiru towards the Post-Thargoid Recovery state and away from the Thargoid Controlled state.

This also proves that changing a system state is not just about throwing vast numbers of people at it. In HIP 23716 there are more CMDRs than anywhere else but those numbers are also being split between all the Ports and mission types.

The progress in Matshiru shows that smaller and more targeted actions on one Port and one mission type also make a difference, just a bit more slowly as you would expect. Now we know it works I expect that targeted action at the right time in the right place will become a crucial weapon in this war.

December 8th
It's Groundhog War.

After the news yesterday the playerbase is shellshocked by the double whammy of their work being reset if they haven't done enough in a week, and systems being affected by a known bug with the Timer but not stopped from falling while it's fixed.

Matshiru is gone.

Also, something I have neglected to mention for a while—well done for keeping M. Raijin losing its Control systems gradually! I remember that @Spacerschoice-00 was operating there, though I want to thank any Commanders more generally who have been keeping it moving in a direction less favourable for the Thargoid Council. Combined with the Alerts there also being stopped, this does maintain the path to collapsing it while some of us are giving M. Taranis the expeditious treatment!

Speaking of M. Taranis, I would like to present its state at the moment. I have highlighted in blue those systems targeted by @Grimscrub to guard Imeut (and implicitly Vukurbeh), in green the additional mention of guarding Lubal with around two-thirds collected for it, and in purple those I have scheduled to guard Lovaroju:

32 Taranis.png

I claim no credit for guarding Didiomanja despite that being part of the plan, but otherwise those stricken off are what INIV has done thus far, such that there should be no concern at all regarding populated systems being brought into focus. We will proceed to guard Lovaroju, but after that some co-ordination will be needed!

I recall that some of those systems in blue and green were harvested partially or awaiting delivery; by all means correct me if any of that was not the case, and definitely mention if a bit of assistance is needed! If there is any doubt about clearing away all of those Imeut attackers, probably the sensible approach is to secure those two which can see Vukurbeh.

For rough reference, current amount on carrier - actively gathering for Matshiru now with KR-W b1-4 next, then FB-N b7-3 may be delayed while emptying carrier. If any of the previous systems seem notably under do let me know - had been running off the older info as a 'well if it was nerfed twice it should be less than X/Y' guesstimate, better to overdo than under-estimate and so on.

Given that INIV harvested 26378 last week and 13220 thus far this week, that should be achievable!

Matshiru is indeed important now; unfortunately still only an estimate, although we have a slightly better idea now that the latest inhabited reduction appears to be around 2.9–3.5% depending on distance. It will be good to know a bit later where your Matshiru total stands after we have Lovaroju guarded:
  • If it needs obvious assistance then we could give it a couple of thousand.
  • If Matshiru will be fine but you would like a bit of assistance with guarding Imeut, we could take Trianguli Sector KR-W b1-4 for you.

Victories in Arietis Sector AQ-P b5-2, Hyades Sectors PN-T c3-5, PN-T c3-7 and QN-T c3-11, and Bi Dhorora! Alerts are doing very well with a wall of 82–84% upcoming and no sign yet of investment being risky, and HIP 20056 saw an impressive leap. As promised, Lovaroju should be guarded now!

A quite good job is ongoing also at M. Leigong; evicting Jementi and Ceti Sector XJ-A c18 will deprive it of its fifth and last attack, where activity has commenced for the latter.

Yes, I saw that, Grim etc. are doing a great job. Meanwhile our own tissue sampling crew, Operation Kleenex, cleared or helped to clear all 17 unpopulated Alerts by Sunday morning, and are now doing the more problematic systems if they become Invasions while the ones more suited to evacs and deliveries are steadily being cleared by the haulers. The plan is working.
