Elite Dangerous 'New Launcher' live today!

Thanks for the information !
But how odd, to find forums under "Settings" ! :alien:
Consider submitting a support ticket ( connected as/settings/support) outlining this and any other obscure settings, although if it receives as much attention as issue tracking it will fall on deaf ears.

UPDATE : Submitted a support ticket, politely asked for it to be passed to the relevant department for consideration of possible improvements. Actually received a reply but only to ask that I post suggestions on the discussion forum when forwarding my mail directly to the developers would have been far easier. So no acknowledgement that the department that could make the most use will actually see the recommendations.

I'm glad they sped it up, without interfering with Minimal ED Launcher. The only part of the official launcher I want or need is the game file verification. The rest is just useless bloat from my point of view.

Really? I thought Norton had Defender totally deactivated. I'll have to look into how it works.
Not completely, i run norton too, but defender should be virtually "asleep" and shouldn't be affecting it.

I suppose Norton could have a similar issue. Check the task manager while the launcher is updating and you might find the culprit.

Nortons av can be quite aggressive but the system would need to be a potato for it to cause any perceivable performance issues with the exception of when i was still running hdd's and in that scenario it can bog the drives down.

I'm don't remember the details, but there is a moment when both the launcher and defender uses a lot of resources, excluding elite's files from defender speeds the whole process up quite a lot.

But that was the old launcher, maybe the new one works better! :D

No - msdefender and the installer were still clashing when I updated.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Congratulations on this new launcher.
As it looks at first sight it seems to work.
But!
Please refrain from collecting computer information when launching the launcher without the owner's consent!
This is a violation of EU privacy laws.
If an owner of a computer system does not want to give out their information, they should ask for it and if they deny it, they should respect it.
They do not need this information for the function of their launcher and Elite Dangerous!

We wish them continued success.

Thank you for your understanding.
Which EU law exactly do you think is being violated (I'll give you a hint, it isn't GDPR)?

Just close the launcher using the "X" in the top right (not via twitter) - don't log-out of the launcher - next time you launch it starts without needing password (as long as you had ticked "remember me").

Oh this is going to cause sooooo much confusions witch search engines again...
The question is what will generate most amusement, That Xvideos is already in use by an adult content site, or that 'X 'for social media is already copyrighted by Zuckerberg?
