Exciting day ruined by stupid old person injuring himself trying to jump over a barbed wire fence like a 20 year old

A mate of mine from the main island... who borrowed my set of Imperial spanners and sockets a while back decided to drop them off for me...since I need them for a vintage bike project in the shed....So, being up here in the frozen north and having to negotiate long ferry travels and suchlike, he decided to ask his mate who has a bushmaster type of private plane to assist and he would air drop them in the field at the back of the farmhouse for me...just fly over at zero feet and chuck the suitably packed box out of the door on the way past type of thing.

Anyhoo...it all went swimmingly well, plane flying over the field at zero feet and just above stalling speed, anonymous brown hay bale sized package dropping out of the open door...which didn't even bounce that much on landing, which was nice... just leaving said stupid old person (me) to jump over the fence and pick the package up...As much as the whole low flying plane dropping strange package in remote field felt a bit like a dodgy Columbian drug deal...and probably not strictly supported by any FAA or civil aviation rules.

I popped my knee out jumping over the fence...seemingly, old age means that after a life of jumping out of aeroplanes for a living, I now don't bounce quite as well as I did in my yoof. To add insult to injury, my darling wife who had popped out to watch the spectacle then seeing me writhing in agony after leaping almost daintily over the fence shouted... "Get up off the floor you stupid old fart, I've just washed that T-shirt!" 😐

Fantastic read @Mole HD I hope the Mrs isn't too distressed about the grass stains on your T-Shirt :D

PS: i get the feeling i'm supposed to be empathetic about another thing, but can't think what that might be...... 🙃

Thankfully ship components have been thought through in delicious detail...

😁

You see the bottom half of the door? It slides under the components, he saw that, he watched it fold down and then retract, so to close it again he moves forward from where he was, much closer than he needed to be and almost inside the cabinet he then acts surprised when the door slides under his feet and lifts him up in to the cabinet.
Its things like that where i do wonder, are you really that stupid? Or is that contrived? Are you just prostituting your self respect for clicks?

You sound like me LOL but man that remind me of the movie American Made with Tom Cruise, our compound is in a very dense forest area so dropping stuff out of an airplane is a no go, but yeah being old sucks when nature reminds you that you're now just old and fragile :LOL::LOL:

Yes he should have spotted it.

But it's still an incredibly dumb design...

(Made doubly-dumb by the fact that it's at full flappy-paddle polish, despite the game mechanic not even being in place yet ;))

Dang it, now you made me click on one of those bug videos!

And to you answer your question…

… We need a “Why not all of the above?” meme. :D

It's incredibly cool :sneaky:
I wish they keep it like it. OSHA's accidents should be a feature in game !

All going well:

Always fun to see what a new build breaks...

  • Lorville - Transit / Locations - Trams are missing from city
  • Ships purchased with aUEC are not being delivered to player
  • Room System does not protect player actor from extreme weather conditions in Lorville Interiors

Etc etc. A bunch of familiar regressions at the standard weak points. Plus some new exploits.

And features!

Underground Facilities - Rastar Update

...This update moves all our original UGF's over to the new Rastar tool workflow. All UGF's have been replaced in the same positions as they were previously, with the settings they previously had applied to them reapplied where appropriate.

Spectrum arguing about skills again.

Funny stuff

PVE and PVP games of the past are irrelevant. Chris Roberts, the Chris Roberts, set out to create his vision of a space MMO, some people have given him literally tens of thousands of dollars to make the grand, singular online universe, but you're here to tell us you've figured it all out and they're making a terrible financial mistake.

The Chris Roberts who checks notes hasn't successfully ever delivered a video game himself in his entire career unless he was working under someone else and - gasp - not just a publisher, but EA themselves? Who has never once made an MMO of any kind?

That Chris Roberts?

Someone else makes the point that this is paving the way for PvE servers, that CIG have squeezed all the money they can from existing backers so now need to target a new demographic.

Funny if true, more older backers getting salty because CIG do another bait and switch, when they probably defended CIG for earlier ones.

Consensual death of a spaceman.

Looking at all the Picards, they seem really into the idea of grind > skill, now. Before griefing was possible, I remember them cheering on player skill.
