I don’t even care if it’s just habitat birds. There’s no reason why they can’t add Spoonbills, Ibis, Pelicans, Ducks, Swans, Grey Crowned Cranes, etc.
We have 3 options here: They are just lazy about doing birds, they just don't want to add them, or they are saving them for other thing

Farm simulator is nowhere near my interest but a Planet farm with plant produce and domestic species would be much better than sims which are super oldschool right now.
Maybe it would explain why the last two packs have had less new animations and rigs (mainly the last pack). Maaaayyybe they’re prioritizing the bird pack but I doubt it.The third option would be pretty sick tbh. But probably not the correcto one
I mean i think everyone can agree that the main focus of Zoos are mammals, and PZ focusing on mammals aswell is the right choice. But its getting a little to far imo. And if we ever get aviary birds we wont get the 50+ species we would need for it to be realistic.Exactly. If they do it good, it would be a success. Of course not all players want birds at all, but well, not everyone can enjoy everything. I can like more birds than mammals or reptiles than birds, but other people will like more the African Ungulates than birds. It's normal and basic each other preferences, but have more variety for everyone should be the goal here. Having caprines, felids, birds, antelopes, bears, mustelids, and all long. Just for now isn't that equal enough
I think something like 10-15 species would be enough to get the point across. Having the big names like macaw, toucan, bald eagle and kookaburra ticked of would be ok for me.
Similar situation for me regarding the habitat birds. For a realistic representation of a zoo we would need multiple ducks, pheasants and so on. But thats a) not gonna happen and b) not really needed.
I would be content if we end up we A duck and so on.
With all that said i do agree that PZ is in need of more birds, especially more diversity among birds. I mean of the 8 Birds in PZ 5 are either large ratites or penguins. It would be really benefitial imo to get some different stuff like ducks, pelicans, secretarys.
Most likely they're prioritising the new planet game whatever it might be.
I keep saying this here but I always get ridiculed: I don't think Frontier is done with WE and I'm almost certain we will get a macaw (from the in-game teaser poster), maybe an owl, as those types of birds are slow-moving and perfect for WE. We might also get a second flamingo before the game is done due to the song. Also, I'm betting the Indian peafowl rig will be reused to give us one more bird of the type (probably pheasant). But that's about all we can hope for at this point.
Well if they start making WE birds we will certainly get more than 1 or 2, that would feel VERY weird.

Imo, WE is only technically capable of doing very slow-moving birds at the moment. Bats also don't move much most of the time when they aren't flying. Anything else (fast moving birds) just doesn't appear realistic because it has to be looped. I guess hummingbird is also feasible because it is very small (like butterflies) so the scripted movement wouldn't seem so apparent to our eyes.
But if you want larger WE birds, think of more slow-moving birds like parrots or owls for it to be feasible.
You know what would also be a great idea? Planet Museum. You could have Renaissance paintings, suits of armor, dinosaur skeletons, historical weapons, all sorts of neat stuff.
I'm actually excitted with the idea of frontier trying to revive the idea of planet safari or planet wildlife park, it would be so cool to see those things actually happening

If I were able to choose one new game in the 'Planet' franchise that would really appeal to me, it would be some sort of nature reserve simulator - call it 'Planet Wilds' or something of that nature.
You could have different options - a fenced reserve where the animals are more contained and so have to be manually brought in, but are safer and also do not conflict with the local people, or an unfenced reserve where animals can move in and out depending on what resources are available for them. There could be all sorts of different challenges involved to running it, such as taking in 'problem' animals causing issues elsewhere, making sure the animals are comfortable enough that they won't stray and cause issues with the neighbours, controlling invasive plants, preventing fires, creating new water sources and monitoring and managing wildlife populations in your area. You can open the reserve to tourists, which will get money that allow you to expand your reserve or better protect it.
A lot of this is inspired by the reserve my local zoo (Colchester Zoo) has down in South Africa. It was first created in 2005 - at the time it was an abandoned cattle farm with barely any wildlife on it. Since then, they have released sixteen species onto the reserve (including giraffe, zebra, ostrich and eight antelope species), and encouraged the natural return of several more including leopard, spotted hyena, honey badger, baboon, Nile crocodile and lots of ground birds such as secretary birds, ground hornbills and both blue and crowned cranes. Their plans for this year are reintroducing the cheetah and the Cape buffalo.
