Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

So, in other words, those who've backed the project based on the promises of things like delivery of all items by 2016, among many others, who justifiably feel they've been ripped off?

Interesting that the example post you pull up is from five years ago at 200M, and here we are at 600M and still no sign of delivery of what was backed. I guess now the OP you quoted would be even more of a hater than when they posted that, correct?

Question; would the definition of "those who want CIG to fail" encompass those who support a game that would be considered to be in competition with SC?

$80k ..... Holy Cow ..... Its only a game!! Well it will be once they actually make everything and release it!
I really doubt that he spent 80K. It's several Legatus packs.
If he really spent so much, he just have too much money and don't known what to do with it.

You asked what is a hater, I give you my explanation with a link to a hater... You can also go to the refund, if you want to see more recent haters.

No. And for now I don't see any game in competition with SC.

You invest in the fun you get from the game. If he gets fun with the current alpha he can't get in other games, he already has some return on his investment.
"Protect that investment against whom ?" Haters ?

Haters?

I mean, you have already proven to be a hater of a very specific person. Your recurrent and spammy "90 days tops" and your extremely creepy familiarity with a subreddit solely dedicated to hate on one specific person, a subreddit that has not even been posted in for over 5 years to boot (and not even hating on a game, but a person no less) makes your particular use of the term "haters" a bit laughable at the very least.

May I dare suggest you refrain from using the term a bit, given you yourself have proven to be a very serious one too.

I don't know this subreddit, it was the first result given by Google on my search (because I don't have hundred of bookmarks of what every one say about SC).
I don't hate Derek, he was fun at the time. If I use the "90days tops", it's only because it is emblematic of some haters predicting that CIG will fail soon ™ since several years.

I don't even know what "success" looks like for Starcitizen anymore? 100 star systems? Telling backers everything has "meshed" and everything is fine? SQ42 episode 1 prelude Beta release?

I think as far as CIG are concerned there's no financial incentive to push for anything more robust. Success for them was a gravy train crowdfunding boat that passed all of the risk to consumers. They consider everything a success already, as long as they can sell things and make money and talk about "brands" and stuff.

If it "failed" and closed the servers tomorrow, apart from maybe the community no longer harassing everyone else that might make a space game to scour the genre, the talent pool of developers in the Manchester area might actually improve, maybe we'll see some mushroom companies pop up that might actually want to make finished games. Then again, they may have spent so long under Roberts culture, maybe they will just set up perpetual Alpha crowdfunding schemes of their own with everything they "learnt".

I see CIG as a potential reverse Bullfrog - sucking the life out of the industry rather than bringing innovation and being much if an inspiration.

The only success SC/SQ42 has ever had is in the amount of funding it has received, it's not a success for the backers, for the game, for technology or gaming in general, for crowdfunding, or for anything other than the people that profit from the OTT income. It has failed in every other sense and continues to fail for as long as people pay it to keep failing. It adds nothing but curiosity and disbelief to the gaming world, aside from it's limited ability to make most people giggle and lift an eyebrow when it's raised in discussion.

Backers have given CIG a vast ocean of monetary resource, in return they receive a small damp spot of disjointed content. It's a joke tbh.
