Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

It's an odd one that doesn't really ring true, to me. It * sounds * like someone with the info backers/"haters" might have trying to pretend they were an employee.

Not least this line, which cannot be written by an actual CIG dev, surely:
They are making tools and systems that will be used for games seen for generations to come, so please put the respect for them that they deserve.
Generations to come, lol.

It's a very interesting thread, and evolving fast (the original poster is still replying as of a few mins ago). I also was trying to work out if it's authentic. I suspect it is, but I'll only give it 70%.

To add to the quote you pasted, here's another that caught my eye...
Question: "From your perspective is CIG first and foremost a technology company or game company?"
Answer from OP: "Right now, technology. They create amazing systems that work well for the future of gaming, but have yet to stitch it together into their own game."

I agree with ECity, he sounds like a middle manager who's had the wool pulled over his eyes with techno-babble, and believes the devs are like demigods. The fact that they haven't been able to "stitch" their amazing tech into the game yet is telling.

Wild.

I love the "you don't have to buy anything more than the $45 base package," as if they would be perfectly fine with the game stalling out at $180 million ($45x4,000,000), even as $600 million isn't enough to finish the game at this point. They know good and well how the marketing and sales system works, but they've convinced themselves people do this just because they love the game and not because the marketing has tapped into the same addiction system that gambling uses.

"You don't have to spend anything, the game is free," say those who spend $100 a month on loot boxes in Pay2Win games.

This thread didn't last long but still had 150 comments

Ah, the old CIG only had X number of employees in 2012 guff.

Even if true, it wasn't the backers who were saying they would deliver SQ42 and SC in 2-3 years. It was Chris. Chris was saying the game(s) would be released in 2014/2015. So if CIG really did only have 3 or whatever people, he was claiming either they could do it with very few staff or they could ramp up and build the company quick enough to deliver.

Cig is still a company in the works.

Early days. :p

Oh, never bring that up. You could be the biggest Star Citizen cheerleader under the Sun, but if you bring that up, there are backers who would draw blood if they could. It's like they have to force reality into their mold, and it doesn't matter if you show them the actual dates, and the actual statements by Chris or the team at the time, it simply is. not. true. No matter what. Ever.

Even if it was true, which it ISN'T, they didn't mean it the way you're implying, and you should be ashamed for trying to undermine CIG. You must be a bad faith actor!

I was always uncomfortable dealing with people like that, so I usually said nothing, but seriously, bringing up the early years of the project and saying ANYTHING to the effect that they had already claimed to have the game under development gets some angry bees buzzing.
