Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

Flying fox is flying fox is flying fox. Zoos in my area usually have the Lyle's flying fox. The one we get is more than enough as a substitute.
Exactly, so we should have gotten that species or another one that is in zoos. If they're all the same as you say it would have been easy for Frontier to just change the name of it.

Generally speaking, what's common in the US is rare in europe and even rarer in australia/NZ. Let other people enjoy stuff.
Meanwhile, there's me waiting for more SA animals.

For real, im almost in the same state with SA animals as this fossil:

Bringing a good luck charm with me on the ride to uni today in the form of a 13 year old McDonalds toy.

Fingers crossed we finally hear something about these chompy boys tonight!
Jeez mate, all I wanted was the devil, you didn't have to go ahead and make the entire pack perfectly tailored to my interests. Appreciate it though!

I think the moral of the story is, if you want your literal dream pack to come to the game, make sure to carry an old maccas toy (minimum of a decade in age) of your most wanted animal around with you on the day of the special livestream, and your wishes shall be granted!

It's not all the same to me, but I work with what we have. The chances of us ever gettintg the onager or arabian oryx which are essential to my region are near 0, so I work with the oryxes and donkey that are in the game.

They probably chose the spectacled because it looks more distinct and "cool" to the other bat species, and I can work with that.

I need to ask around for a musk ox toy then :ROFLMAO:

So does anyone know where I can buy one of these?

I'm not sure how many times I've included "I'm happy for those who are happy" in my responses today - clearly, it's still not enough. Those who are able to enjoy this pack absolutely should, but on that same note I don't, and should also be allowed to express that. As it stands, I've got the first ever pack that I'm actually going to skip for the foreseeable future.

And there are at least a handful of options that were on the table that are varying degrees of common across the board - the rockhopper over the little penguin is a really obvious one. Crowned pigeon or black swan or echidna would've been nice. I could've even made do with the "wrong" tree kangaroo. I've gone so many months reading people's complaints about "too many" North American or temperate species, too many ungulate, too many carnivorans, whatever, it's really only fair that those on the other side be allowed to voice their discontent regarding this pack too.

But surely there are also Oceanian bat species that are kept in all player-heavy regions. Why not prioritize those?
There aren't to my knowledge (but I don't know much about what bats are in North American collections so I could be wrong there). The only thing I can find on Oceanian bats outside of the region is two zoos with grey-headed flying foxes in Israel.

Tbh, Frontier picks animals based on cuteness for the general public.

Yes, they'll thrown in a popular forum animal like Tassie in every pack. But Quokka is chosen because of its meme smile. Kiwi is an iconic national bird. Little Blue Penguin is cuter than Rockhopper (even though the latter is cool it's also sort of bizarre.) And Spectacled Flying Fox is less scary than say Rodrigues Flying Fox. So people who are afraid of bats won't be repelled as they are probably the least intimidating large flying fox out there.

So remember Frontier makes packs targeting the general public, not zoo nerds, not people on this forum in general. These people aren't that aware of the diversity of the animal kingdom so they are generally happy with more generic animals and have less craving for the "exotic" and "distinctive" "spectacular" animals. They might even get turned off or scared if Frontier packs too much of those in, or at least this is what Frontier thinks...
