Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

This does not show that either SQ16 or TOW (never mind server meshing obviously or many other exemples) have really existed at all.

Either you work for CIG directly or indirectly and have additional information that you are not sharing, or you just "believe" it much like religious faith šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
CIG“s funding story is fundamentally based in this kind of misrepresentation and banks on "faith" primarily. If they did it with their own money, I personally would not mind. Their money, their malpractice, and their incompetence. The problem is when they have consciously and deliberately extracted 600+ millions with these misrepresentations, from people that for the most part really did not know better. Some people call that fraud.
I added an edit for TOW to my post because I was searching a reference before...

EDIT: also played by backers at CCon 2019. It worked well there but not representative of its real performance (perhaps local server ?).

On the subject of UI's, on of the things I genuinely like is that each manufacturer's HUD feels very different and relay different pertinent information.

In comparison, I consider it a shame that a Hauler uses the same as a Vulture, for example.

Yes. The question was: can you prove that POW existed and was developped ?
The response is yes.
At the time some leaks of evocati bug report existed but they are hard to find now.

No one is challenging that someone is working on something. Pretty sure that around 1000+ devs must be doing something. Hopefully. Or at least trying.

But as CIG has often time demonstrated, telling that they are working on something does not equate to that thing progressing in any meaningful form, and telling they are planning to "release for players soon in the early year" does not mean they actually do that. At all.

Not really sure what you mean. I did not ask for proof of someone working on something. I am also still working on my ship to Pluto, trust me.

I asked for proof of that thing existing. Work in progress or cancelled is not existing, otherwise we would have to arrive to the silly conclusion that all SC and SQ42 promises exist and are delivered.

When the WIP is really advanced enough to be playable, its 'existing'. It seems that's exactly what is said here when SC is told as 'released' while in heavy WIP.

The mobiglass is only an UI thing

Then why did you call BB a 'major engine' for SC, and a tool which would 'industrialize' content output?

and is redone with BB which is efficient and works pretty well in SC.

If BB is efficient and works well, why are large swathes of the UI still in Flash 3 years later, according to the CEO? (And why do the devs talk about it being extremely awkward to use in post-mortems?)

Every new components of mobiglass announced before was added as expected.

But various old features still use Flash apparently. They weren't rectified in the next few patches after 3.10, as you expected.

--

The facts are simple: You have massively oversold some internal tech, and events have proven this to be a silly approach.

That's the true lesson here. Wishing for rapid, meaningful advances in the game, based on CIG hype alone, is daft ;)

I seem to recall people implying CIG shut down the computers for ToW because everyone was queuing to play that instead of going the main hall to listen to someone like Tony Zzzzz blather on about some random rubbish.

And let's remember Lumberyard doesn't come with Scaleform. Why are there still flash elements in UI years after the engine switch ?!

It can not really be ā€œadvanced enoughā€ if it is so bare bones or so broken that it needs to be cancelled or postponed until further notice. I mean, how not advanced at all those things shown as exemple (among many others) must have been, that CIG decided to not release them in any form, not even in the existing early access. Given how broken the PU is that must have been really something! Far from "advance enough" at any rate. They do not exist.
