Question for my fellow members of Constellation:

Is it possible to kill the crew of a ship during ship to ship combat?

I ask because I was dueling with a pirate ship - it was a mission terminal task - when it slowly drifted to a stop and ceased attacking. I believed it was because I disabled the engines and grav drive, but when I boarded the ship, I found this:

The entire crew was already dead!

I am suspecting this might have been a bug because shortly after I returned to my ship, the game CtD. Also, the captain's safe and cargo hold were both empty, which I have never seen before. Again, I think this all points to the ship interior not spawning correctly.

Weird.
Yes disable engines and you can board. I used that when being outgunned, since you get a combat pause and can regenerate shields. Kill the crew and then you can take over the ship by sitting in pilot seat. I havent seen decrewed/dead ships yet in space combat.

Maybe I got that wrong, but I think this would be the downside of the procedural generation in Starfield: Aside from the hand placed stuff, the terrain and features are generated when you pick your landing spot, I think. As a consequence, the same planet will have different terrain (within the constraints of the environmental parameters) for different players or playthroughs, so if one discovers an amazing feature, it might not be present for another player.
Darkfyre has made some tests. The terrain generates the same outcome on landing but PoI placement can alter terrain. I guess you would get same results land in the same coordinates, but hitting the exact same spot as another player is difficult due to how you do place a landing zone in the UI.

I have a problem in the game: My companion Sarah has always the same discussion with me, which prevents me from exchanging any stuff with her. This situation has been since I got my first superpower. Now I never get the phrase option "Let's exchange gear". Has anyone else gotten this issue? I would appreciate if someone knows a workaround. I have attached pictures of the discussion inside the spoiler tags below.
I had a similar issue. I got round it by asking a different character to follow me so she was dismissed, when I came back to her later she was back to normal. Don't know if that fixes it straight away, as I had the other character follow me for quite a while

It becomes an issue if you aren't cheesing it with the simulator and relying on actual kills to unlock the C class... Of course I did have the option to continue holding the fire button after they turned blue...
Not that any components of the Razorleaf remained in the ship...
I based a massive cargo hauler (over 50k cargo units, with full cargo boost perks applied, no original modules remaining) on the Razorleaf - it remains amusing to see some antagonists attempt to flee from it, given what it is now.

In the process of acquiring a new vessel last night a couple of the soon-to-be former owners were holding out in the cockpit. I caught one by the backpack resulting in an explosion that cleared the cockpit of all remaining resistance... 💥:ROFLMAO:

lol - I didn't even know there was a simulator :)

(I did have other ships for when I wanted to fight)

I landed on a planet for no particular reason other than it appeared to have oceans. It turned out to be quite amazing, with some parts having lush forested land, other parts being mountain after mountain, swamps and even a beach.
It can b a bit picky - I've tried landing in the smallest island I can find (when I suspect I'm missing an aquatic fauna) only to be surrounded by rolling hills. And some 'swamp' looks more like arctic tundra. But there is a nice variety and I was pleasantly surprised with the aquatics.
Bonus point: When you pick up the guns of the enemies you killed, you get the ammo that is left in the guns. Never need to buy ammo again.
heh - never noticed that :) Explains why all of a sudden I didn't need to go buy ammo any more!
I store all my resources in the unlimited storage in the Lodge basement, and do my research and crafting there.
I started doing that but IIRC you have to have the engineering items on your person (it won't see them in the locker upstairs). On an outpost all the crafting can 'see' all the resources you have anywhere on the base, so once you set up a trade network crafting becomes very easy. But if you want to start a new outpost and need to find items to put on your ship there is no easy way to do that. if only you could funnel all that stuff into your infinite storage in the lodge or something. I'm sure that will be a mod, alongside another to move the store downstairs :)

So, I finally got to romance Andreja. At some point I decided to take a nap in my captain's quarters. Andreja joins in and the next morning she greets me with "That was enlightening. I'd like to learn...more in the future"
I walk out of the cabin and bump right into Sarah, hovering at the open door (what a creep!). She immediately greets me with "If I can help you with anything, just ask". Uhmmm...okay?:LOL:

The Lodge has two unlimited storage locations; the safe in your room upstairs is the obvious one. The not so obvious one is a storage box on the table behind the research station in the basement, where you have easy access to your crafting resources. I use the safe for "stuff I want to keep" and the storage in the basement for resurces. Also, the storage box has 400some credits in it when you first open it :).

The conversation will complete if you always respond with the first choice. Then she goes back to normal.

There is another infinite box in the basement, next to the weapons workbench

You mean a big yellow one? I think it is next to the engineering workbench (left of it) below the pegboard. But it gets added at some point in the main quest I think? Where I am now, the small box on the table behind the research station is the only one, I think. I will have another look tonight though.

You need to find a landing spot with "Coast" in brackets after the biome name, It can be tricky to find one. Even then you might be hundreds of metres away from the sea. Last time I did it I couldn't see the sea and had to figure out what direction it was and walk for a few minutes to get there.

This is where not being able to fly in atmosphere becomes a bit of a pain, in ED, NMS or even SC you'd just land right next to where you need to be

Oh, didn't you do the UC Vanguard questline? You visit the simulator during that quest. You get it from the dude in the MAST lobby on the left.
Ah, thanks! That was my next mission and I was wondering where the simulator was.

Suspicious that any non-atmospheric planet I landed on gave me damage, I found out why I couldn't land on Eridani I and scan stuff: I didn't have my backpack enabled!

Ch-ching, done!

Scanning Eridani I was awesome: I ended up in a volcanic area on a mountain side. It was like Mount Doom - shaking, rumbling, thunderous noises. The fumarole I scanned was terrifying - it had heat waves distorting some of the areas around it and was spitting fire and sparks. I DID NOT want to get close to it!

So this is my first computer game-based RPG and I have to say I am really, really loving it. Considering that I've only visited 8 systems (92 to go) and landed on 6 planets (994 to go), it's massive. I've not even accepted to join constellation yet and have been doing interesting little side quests.

I can see me enjoying this game for years; and the thought of playing again from the start also appeals to me if I ever get to 'endgame', which I can't see me doing for a long, long time.

The other text line after sleeping with her is also hilarious, something about the Great Serpent His Eyes ;-)

See that's quality exploration content, you did it because you enjoyed being there is extremely high praise, the have done a good job on the exploration front
I think Starfield sits nicely between the realistic desolation of EDO, and the cartoonish, jam-packed environments of NMS.

The Starfield planets feel like gaming spaces, to me. In other words they are human-designed to be interesting and I can pretty much bet on finding something there -- installations, flora, fauna, etc. The EDO planets are more realistic and often look like photos from NASA or such, but there can often be nothing much of interest there other than the landscape and views.

It's a good design for an RPG. Not so much for a simulation, though.

In any case, it's fun and enjoyable and that's the main thing for me.
