You need to find a landing spot with "Coast" in brackets after the biome name, It can be tricky to find one. Even then you might be hundreds of metres away from the sea. Last time I did it I couldn't see the sea and had to figure out what direction it was and walk for a few minutes to get there.

This is where not being able to fly in atmosphere becomes a bit of a pain, in ED, NMS or even SC you'd just land right next to where you need to be
Extra hint after you land at Coast biome.

Jump on top of your ship and check where the landscape change a bit to lesser and lesser flora.
The lesser flora the closer to the beach/water line

lol - I didn't even know there was a simulator :)

(I did have other ships for when I wanted to fight)

It can b a bit picky - I've tried landing in the smallest island I can find (when I suspect I'm missing an aquatic fauna) only to be surrounded by rolling hills. And some 'swamp' looks more like arctic tundra. But there is a nice variety and I was pleasantly surprised with the aquatics.

heh - never noticed that :) Explains why all of a sudden I didn't need to go buy ammo any more!

I started doing that but IIRC you have to have the engineering items on your person (it won't see them in the locker upstairs). On an outpost all the crafting can 'see' all the resources you have anywhere on the base, so once you set up a trade network crafting becomes very easy. But if you want to start a new outpost and need to find items to put on your ship there is no easy way to do that. if only you could funnel all that stuff into your infinite storage in the lodge or something. I'm sure that will be a mod, alongside another to move the store downstairs :)
When picking a landing site you're looking for one that says 'coast'. It'll usually be about 500m from your landing site.

I'm currently stood at Shanghai, watching the sunrise... in the south west... 🤦👍🤪

Last night, I spent far too much of my limited time transforming

into

I'd woken up a little early this morning, so I decided to use it to finally get my ARX to Mars. I ended up playing a lot longer than I'd intended... and I just realized I spent so much time working on pointless fluff, I forgot to modify my newly acquired legendary calibrated Maelstrom! At least my Va’ruunn pack has been upgraded with a skip jet.

Anyways, Cydonia feels familiar for some reason…

The latest Buckyball Race begins on the 23rd, so I'll be giving my wrists a badly needed break from a singular control scheme.

We're going to need a bigger boat ship!

Actually, I'm starting to run out of cargo space with the stock ship; might have to try ship builder and add an extra cargo slot.
Thought I was doing well until I hit the module limit at 112,780 cargo units. I don't really want to lose the four Helion Beams and two twin mounts. Still swithering about saving the changes....

Actually did take a pic but it removes the compass in photomode and I'm not sure where it's saving them.
Compass or not, wouldn't mind seeing the picture anyway; I've not had time yet to enjoy the "just chilling" aspect of the game.

Still hoping for co-op mod with primitive bush craft fence enclosure on a beach at night, with campfire, music, crack open some beers (real and virtual) and look at the stars and just chat with mates who also play the game...

Let's see, I was standing on my ship which was orientated North-South.

That's an awesome shot, I've not experienced any of those kind of scenes... Yet.

Although I kept my expectations back for this game to avoid being disappointed, I have to admit it's shaped up much more than I thought it would. I am enjoying it much more than I thought I would even though I've only played for abbout 14 hours so far.

Another "bug" I've encountered when trying to clutter up my ship interior with "stuff" is that it's more often that not partly sunk into whatever surface I left it on (including the floor) the next time I enter the area. It's almost like it's using the centre of the object rather than the bottom bounding and aligning that to the surface. It kind of makes it pointless doing it really, which is a shame as I do like to personalise things that way (I do have a plant on a shelf which seems to work okay though). That coupled with the "bug"/design choice to remove every object in the ship if you even so much as slightly change the paintwork makes it almost worth not bothering at all.

I find it doubly so, since every item on your ship apparently counts towards your cargo limit, regardless of whether it’s stored in the cargo hold, the captain’s locker, on a rack, or placed loosely on some surface. Every time I make a change on the Frontier, I end up having to resell about another 50kg of clutter that respawns afterwards.

All-in-all, it’s really just a minor issue, and it came in handy when unlocking Commerce 4. But still…

I haven’t seen anything wrong yet with stuff placed on the ship, but then again I frequently skip straight to and from the cockpit iffI gave no reason to interact with the interior, which is frequently the case now that my base has decent storage for the materials required for crafting and research.

Yes that's pretty much been Bethesda's signature for the last couple of decades...
