Frontiers Financial Report is Out đź‘€

I wouldn't be surprised if we have a full 5 years of support, honestly. We have the 5th anniversary, a couple of DLCs, and then that's it. That'll be a solid run for the game. It's definitely longer than Zoo Tycoon 1 (2001-2003) and Zoo Tycoon 2 (2004-2008)
Gosh I hope so, 5 years of content would be fantastic. When the game first released I figured 2-3 years of content. Of course, I also was thinking larger expansion, but maybe the numbers will end up the same.

I know I've said that it's almost surely not happening, but there's a small part of me that hopes that if we do get 5 more packs....maybe we will see flying exhibit birds. Likely not, but I can't give up that want completely, even though I have no actual expectations of it now.

My hopes are up for at least 2 more packs in 2024.:giggle:

And a quiet hope for the whole year, but if they really want to promote the game, I think they must come with some real gameplay changes . Not only to keep us all interested, but also to make new players enthousiastic about the game

Does this mean we may get dlc in 2025?
Possibly, but I think it's still probably better to be more cautious at just guessing at the next year ahead. I mean, just because "players" keep asking for DLCs it's a little more nuanced than that. It has to be a profitable number of players. There will always be people asking for new content - which is fine, it's just that at some point it's no longer a ROI to make the new content.

I'm just hoping this really does mean at least 4 packs next year.

@Jeeminee - gameplay changes - exhibit revamp, scaling of build objects, possible flying birds, scaling of build objects, possible marine animals, scaling of build objects. In case I forgot it, scaling of build objects.

I wouldn't go that far, personally. I would say 2024, and then we'll see what happens next

I agree. This does give a bit more optimism than before, so it may be possible we get new features, like animal-human interactions and maybe even WE birds

Oh. That is not good news then.
Overall can be viewed as not good news, but they've pretty much said it's profitable and they'll continue to make packs as long as players want more In business speak that's: they'll continue to make packs as long as it's profitable. I feel like the Developers team is very invested in Planet Zoo and its content, but let's not lose sight of the fact that first and foremost Frontier is a business, main goal is to make money.

While we don't know the insider information oh "how much" money, that statement made indicates they are making money and it's profitable. It would be extremely odd to make a statement like than and then end support 3 months later. Not unheard of but it would definitely be at odds with their public statements.

It isn't just about if the DLC continues to make profit but also about allocation of resources. We know another "Planet" game (maybe two) is likely in the works, and they will most certainly be transferring those currently working on Planet Zoo to those newer titles. Even if Planet Zoo remains profitable, they will be able to make more money through supporting a new game and when that time comes for those games to need full support we can probably say Planet Zoo support will end.

Or will be ending soon. Maybe 1 or 2 DLC after the next game comes out, and then nada

That is a very good point I hadn't thought about. Their overall strategy or roadmap may dictate ending support for PZ even when it is profitable, so as not to delay the next Planet title. Granted, they've shown they can work on more than one game at a time like the Jurassic World series, but it's not the same as two Planet titles at the same time, and throws in the cooperation with the Jurassic World Franchise.

At any rate, hopefully this still can mean full content for next year.

In my opinion it makes the Most sense to keep your profitable Games at life until you have a Potential new profitable Game and not to Stop it making no money for months. Especially when you have struggled a Bit financially Like Frontier did the Last years and you have 2 Games to compensate your other Games.
