Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

A lot of words but not much substance.
I wonder what the pro-CIG crowd think of the paragraph about SQ42 will be so great considering Star Citizen is full of bugs and features not working properly despite being tested by players while SQ42 will have a lot less testing no matter how you look at it.

Ah, but Tyler Witless played through all the levels years ago, so you can be sure the quality will be great.

It is really simple and explained in the same post. The non-buggy, polished collection of all the gameplays is already implemented in SQ42 and requires nothing more than transferring them back to PU. You know, like when you merge a REALLY LOVING HUGE pull request.

And it will happen in the Near Future(TM), right after the Con, in the middle of the Road To Pyro.

Genuine Roberts needs a database? Hmm, I wonder if there are any scalable, fault tolerant and superlatively high availability products that have been out there since forever?

Faithful backer blaming backers for not testing the game while in PTU.

Not only are backers unpaid testers, they also should be blamed for buggy releases.

I swear, some of these guys are the biggest suckers ever.

Oh yeah, combined with the fact that the test server is now paywalled in tiers. They are literally paying to test the game and getting blamed for it.
Had the same with ED players when they rolled out the fish. Some dude was telling me to test the game so it would come out timely and with less bugs to which I replied that I don't work unpaid jobs and neither would I pay to work at unpaid jobs.

Implemented in SQ42 the way stuff shown at Citcon are already in game?

Citcon next week will reveal all.

I can't wait for them to flick that switch for the full space-VR experience... it's 'never' been done before...

Yup. That's going to be sooo great!

I'm certain that they'll demo it all at CitCon!

The sub's slow tilt towards Spectrum continues...

Year 5 of road to pyro

They should just call it PyroCon, now.

Might as well be FYRE festival at this point

Imagine Fyre-festival-tiket-owners still waiting for the Festival to happen..a decade later.. but also paying for Backstage-tickets every year anyway.

Chris speaks: LINK

That whole thing is like a coded message to the remaining true believers like LittleAnt, and maps out the current talking points they should be using:
  • The complicated development of the revolutionary Pro Evolution Soccer tech has prevented much recent progress, but that's to be expected of something that's groundbreaking and never-done-before, and in any case it wasn't CIG's fault because...
  • SC is too demanding for existing enterprise database solutions, which aren't advanced enough to keep up with SC's futuristic proprietary tech. Never mind that this pattern of "not understanding the problem and then expecting an off-the-shelf product to make everything work for them for little-to-no effort" has bitten them repeatedly. Expect CIG to announce a new proprietary database tech any day, with a typically meaningless buzzword name, that then gets split into multiple sub-techs as they fail to deliver anything that actually works. Also expect it to be the excuse for all further lack of progress for the foreseeable future.
  • Chris has explicitly said they are working on fixing longstanding bugs, and adding QoL features, so that's as good as saying it's already done so stop whining. Be sure to use "QoL" as often as possible, rather than naming specific features that can be tracked in any meaningful way.
  • The top secret internal SQ404 build that really exists has already fixed all the issues people are having, so there's no point complaining about them because it's all basically solved, which is basically the same as the bugs no longer existing in SC, so if you're still experiencing them then you don't understand game development.
  • Any and all suggestions and feature requests you may have are already implemented in the secret build, because Chris is playing 4D dev chess and is always 3 steps ahead of everyone else. No, you can't see it in action, because spoilers.
