Oh, is ED now a RPG?
Oh, is ED now a RPG?
Not seeing the correlation myself, at the moment for me the answers are no and yes but depending on the gameplay forced on us by interiors and how avoidable it is that might change.No. All frontier had to do was commit to ship interiors, but have they done that? No. At one point someone has to break up these deadlocked relationships.
Ship interiors... it’s a simple thing... direct correlation... can we have it? Do we keep playing?![]()
My carriers interior is minimalist just a couple of lifts a corridor, Vista and the command deck. Sometimes I jump the carrier from there looking at the view sometimes I don’t. As far as gameplay associated with ship interiors maintenance and maybe something to do with the holds if they are fitted would be nice, what I don’t want is the ability for NPCs or commanders to get into my ship and turn it into Doom or some other corridor shooter I would sooner not have interiors. You'd need to have gameplay associated with ship interiors. If it is just fluff people will walk around their ship once and then complain. Hands up: who spends extended time in his carrier interior? I hand in VG data and am off again.
There are still players maybe it’s forumites that are going. They also said they would pass on if we wouldn't play without ship interiors... Maybe the mods are doing too good of a job moderating prior threads?
Yeah i guessed today that they might have genuinely planned on doing ship interiors after console release, it was in the ceo's plan after all. Probably the lack of target users put the feature to question. It also might be curious on why they didn't target next gen consoles, maybe they had data that the bulk of console players were still on previous gen rather than current gen in compatibility. Over the last 3 years, there have been a few samples to invalidate the suggestions that sony were giving them an ultimatum of all versions or nothing.
I've personally stopped at the moment. Don't bother asking whyIm extremely hooked on jurassic world evolution 2 now.. the jurassic game after 2 full releases, 5 expansions and 10? content dlcs is mature and a very worthy modern replacement to jpog (for my hardcore casual measure anyway). That's why i've fallen here. And the nice crowd of people who moved over to the non frontier games discussions.
Re the thargoids, i stopped a few hours after the first patch. My roleplay was to be friends with them... :/ When it became clear the actual content was just combat and rescue missions, i completely switched off the whole offering. Yes i did have an enjoyable drive around the far god cult base, and of course the pre patch community stuff with the barnacles and starmap before launch, that was great.
That's okay, seems that most people have moved on? There used to be magnitudes more commentary even for a popular or unpopular new feature when there were still players.
I've seen it, it looks neat, I'll probably get it at some point because it seems like getting back towards the scale and variation of Daggerfall that they lost in the later Elder Scrolls games. You don't have to suffer speculation or subjective assertions, just try starfield yourself.
Starfield's costs are quoted as ~$400 million - about six times that of Elite Dangerous development+operations combined, over about nine years. Its marketing budget alone is probably bigger than ED's entire development costs. People have sent real spaceships to Jupiter quicker and cheaper than that. Small island nations fit their entire government spending into a lower annual budget (though I guess their ships also have interiors?).Frontier doesn't need squirm, spend or risk to raise the bar, its already been done, so its also not that much of a far off impossibility anymore.
Wasn't that exactly what the Brabinator talked about for the Kickstarter campaign? Getting into other peoples ships to steal, murder and plunder? Not my cuppa either but probably the "easiest" to implement. For engagning gameplay other than combat there seem to be few ideas. Generally speaking "crafting" maybe. My carriers interior is minimalist just a couple of lifts a corridor, Vista and the command deck. Ship interiors is not the universal panacea you make it out to be. I did not quit ED because lack of ship interiors. I'm not opposed to interiors, but adding them without changing any other aspect of the game won't bring me back.No. All frontier had to do was commit to ship interiors, but have they done that? No. At one point someone has to break up these deadlocked relationships.

I'd noticed that also, which I found enlightening.I have noticed in this thread that people who are done with ED are more apt to desire a new version of Elite (Elite V), whereas those still enjoying ED rather have an expansion to the existing game.
To me too...That seems totally logical to me.
I wouldn't know, I got ED just after Engineers released so was too late for the kickstarter and as I wasn't interested in seeing what I could have had if only etc. I haven't bothered reading or watching any of that stuff.Wasn't that exactly what the Brabinator talked about for the Kickstarter campaign? Getting into other peoples ships to steal, murder and plunder? Not my cuppa either but probably the "easiest" to implement. For engagning gameplay other than combat there seem to be few ideas. Yep, that's me coveredor are completely cynical...
I also think there were a couple of neithers who said that the game is so perfect / complete as-is that they need neither an update nor a new game, as they are totally satisfied with the status quo.I think most people who said 'neither' were talking about what they think we'll likely see, not what they'd want to see.
With a 1G drive? It makes me laugh aloud when people complain that a space flight simulation contains... space flight.
Have you any idea how BIG space is?
Try reaching the nearest planet is sub-supercruise speed like a lot of newbies do.
But can we get them to move to starfield or eve to badger the devs there for the ED features they desperately want?I have noticed in this thread that people who are done with ED are more apt to desire a new version of Elite (Elite V), whereas those still enjoying ED rather have an expansion to the existing game. That seems totally logical to me. Too bad we can't have both (especially if Elite V were to scratch a different itch), but I doubt we'll get either. Oh well, it's still fun to dream.
I don't know if this question is disingenuous or ignorant/shallow, but I'll assume ignorance.ED 2 or another expansion for ED 1?
"Aged a lot". Game got 2 large overhauls. First with Horizons, then with Odyssey. Frontier themselves call the current Odyssey 4.0, which means they consider some other large overhaul in the middle of the way. Do you even remember what the game was like on launch? Do you even remember how the game was on Horizons? Do you even know how the engine dealt with light and shadows fidelity over the course of each large milestone? Do you REALLY think the game got stuck into what it was 10 years ago on launch?ED is almost 10 years old and it has aged a lot.
Please, tell me if these other "current gen space sims and space themed games" are in the room with us. Because the only other game like Elite, where spaceship based travel, fighting and exploration on a massive MMO-like scale with on-foot features exist, is Star Citizen, and that one is pulling a Fallout 76 by being developed on an engine not made for multiplayer and is still stumbling on how to make the whole thing more acceptable for players. And from the looks of it, it won't: it will just polish as much as possible (without ever reaching bug-free status) until the players accept the way things are. Frontier maintains Elite via using a peer-based system on a proprietary engine in order to not be so burdened on their server side, which allows Elite to not have subscription (that Eve has) or some aggressive kind of microtransactions. The only microtransaction we got is cosmetics, ARX yields no gameplay advantage whatsoever. Development ain't easy, cheap and trivial as you might think. The graphics don't hold a candle to current gen space sims and space themed games.
Rule the world, it's a simple thing, can I have it? Words words words..No. All frontier had to do was commit to ship interiors, but have they done that? No. At one point someone has to break up these deadlocked relationships.

Only if these other developers offer a forum as nice as this one! I'd be more than happy to badger Egosoft! Just look at some of my recommendations in their Steam "forum" (which they may or may not read). But can we get them to move to starfield or eve to badger the devs there for the ED features they desperately want?![]()
Different forum members react in their own way....This really struck a nerve with you, huh? I didn't take the question as being a complaint, but it has sparked discussion. You seem to be in that category that others talked about where everything in the game is hunky dory.
