Can you explain the appeal of the musk ox to me? I'm not trying to debate or argue about it; just to understand... Is it just that they look cool and got the big ol' horns or is there something else that I'm missing?
My favourite arctic animal besides the polar bear. Its not a physical appeal but a personal favourite of mine seeing them in real life.
The only place I've seen them is taxidermied at Cabellas.
The musk ox is also really popular for animals of the Arctic. The big 4 (I think) are the Polar Bear, Walrus, Penguin, and the Musk Ox.

Of the musk ox vs takin, I would definitely prefer the takin. I have seen them a few times before and they are quite exquisite animals. By contrast, I have never seen a musk ox and probably never will now, with quite a few zoos worldwide having to get rid of them because climate change has made keeping them basically impossible.

Muskoxen leave Dutch zoo due to global warming
Due to climate change, the summers in the Netherlands have become too warm for the muskoxen at the GaiaZOO in Kerkrade to stay any longer. The oxen were therefore relocated to the wildlife park Chomutov in the Czech Republic.

The actual answer is much sadder. There was a bird filling the penguin's niche in the arctic called the Great Auk.
Humans hunted it to extinction.
After recently launching a Tiktok account, now Planet Zoo announces today more new merchandising on the store... I don't think the end is coming, only winter (or summer).

I'm still legitimately disappointed that they never put the vinyl soundtrack up for purchase. I know they said as much during the stream where it was shown off, but I'm really not generally a merch person but would've loved to own that. Nothing else on the shop is really for me.
You do realize one dlc left does not contradict them publicizing the game?
I tend to think the game will extend beyond one more dlc, but their tiktok and merch is not evidence either way.
Was going to post the same thing. I don't know that either of those things means support will continue or end. TikTok is just another way to promote the game and its DLC while the merch is another avenue to monetize the game. Plain and simple. It means they know there are people they can reach on TikTok and people willing to buy their merch. That's all.
I can't help but think about this in the context of another passion of mine (music) where it's not uncommon for bands to have a social media account and release new merch despite not touring or putting out new music. It keeps the brand alive, promotes engagement/excitement for older content, and brings in money with relatively low overhead.
EDIT: What is interesting to me is that they'll have a booth dedicated exclusively to Planet Zoo at EGX in mid-October, apparently. I'm assuming that could be viewed as a good sign, right? Although I guess they don't have much else of their own to promote ATM.
