What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

Today... I got Planet zoo installed on my new laptop, and started the Red Deer/European Fallow Deer combo habitat in my Near East section. Waiting till tomorrow when I can really sit down and work on it. Otherwise, spent the last week stabilizing my zoo's profits, and linked up my Near East with my Siberia and Great North (North America) section.
After that, I can either begin 1) closing up my line into a net, a) via building Europe and North Africa sections, or b) building my India, NearEast, Indochina connective area.
Or alternatively I can 2) work on South America, which will have connections to Antarctica and West Africa.
I'll pop back to post once I get the red/fallow deer area done, and get my zoo to year 100. Currently 97.

I´m totally in love withe dromedary one of my favorites ungulates of the game

Alright, well, I sat down and worked on it for eight hours. Now I'll need to spend a few years balancing my budget. Long, long story short, Zoo has now hit 100 years, I believe that the 100 year anniversary wouldn't till about March 19th or so. Which will give me time to make a new habitat in my soon to be Northern African section. I'm back down 300k, and down 900 guests, so one new one, then several years of maintenance.

Initial shot from when they were added. It could be better if I ever grow the patience to mess around with rocks, and literal twigs.

Their mini meadow. Particularly proud of how that looks.

Here's the habitat as a whole. Had to redesign the area of the local Mono rail.

Eventually, the Red and Fallow Deer habitat will sprout into an European segment, and when it does, the Polar Bear (which will be in Europe) should connect around the North American Food court or so. The upper mosaic path will be North Africa, and them lead to the West Africa Section, which will be connected to the South America area (and 1/3 entrances to my zoo). In addiotn, when I make my Madagascar section, with will have a connection to my India section, I hope. Meaning while India and Indo China will all lead up to Oceania, and together, South Africa, Oceania, and South América will all link up at the King Penguins.

But at the momment, the Red/Fallow Deer do connect back to the original split between SIberia and The Great North (America).

All my ambition said... We shall how newer frontier packs force me to remake North America, Siberia, Himalayas, or Central America. FYI, I would not recommend copying my effort to add every animal in a zoo. Even my new laptop isnt sure if it wants to run it for more than a few hours at a time.

So its been quite a while since i have used koalas, before they got fixed i believe so San Diego's koala colony was the perfect chance to see them in action. When finished there will be 21 koalas spread through 4 habitats. Using what i learnt from my adventures in custom frame building, the africa log branches continue to be the best natural looking climbing materials forgetting about the ugly habitat climbing logs. The koalas now can be seen climbing all the time with a combination of the faux climbing trees and the tree enrichment.

Believe it or not this area actually has a total of 8 viewing areas on the outside. 2 glass windows by the sandy beach area, 3 underwater viewing, 1 small window for children to view into, and 2 viewing domes. The penguins scheduled move is tomorrow, let’s hope it meets their standards lol.

Not today, but a few days ago I build this habitat fpr Kiwis - then decided I can't deal with the merging breaking of Kiwis in daylight and put Quokkas in it. Surprised at how much space these little stinkers need.

Now I'm stuck, because I still don't know how I want a Kiwi habitat to look. Same with Spectacled flying Foxes. And my Oceania Beach section seem to get bigger than anticipated...

Well, yes, but I don't know how really. I'm not good with indoor habitats, to be honest.
What does WTE stand for?
WTE stands for Walk through exhibit. WE is also another common abbreviation.

Do some research, look at real zoos, do the whole bit! I’m sure you’ll come up with something

Thanks guys, I knew WE, but the T tripped me up.
I'm moderate on realism, at least in this zoo, I'd rather vibe stuff. In this section I'd rather not have a giant building like a full night house would be.
Maybe I come up with something after a good nights rest. If not, there are food stalls waiting for me.

Hi guys, I have been trying to think of what animal would fit well in this habitat but I don't have much of an idea, I used to have Nile monitors there but they didn't convince me and I wanted to change and I'm kind of stuck on what to put in, if you have any suggestions it would be very helpful, I'm looking a semi-aquatic animal that can live well in that habitat

Otters and Capybaras would be my first choice

Well well i can happily say that the largest and imo best thing ive ever done in planet zoo is now finished.
The lion habitat is one of the oldest habitat in my zoo, older then the wetlands pack and the 4. habitat i started to build in my current zoo 2 years ago after i had a little oopsie after the NA animal pack and its finally (mostly) finished. There are still some details to the holding, signage and decoration outside the habitat to be added, but for the most part its done.
Its ~3500 m^2 of traversable area, way more then the 700 my 4 lions need. The habitat is cradled between the african savanah/elephants and aardvarks at the the top and meerkats aswell as gorillas at the bottom, making for quite the busy pathway.
lions3.jpeg

The oldest part is this front view across a water moat. Im not the biggest on the custom fence i used here, but i still remember how much of a pain in the ass it was to build so to respect my own suffering and as it still looks decenetly it stays for now. I mostly prettyied this area up alot with foliage and grasses, something i got really got since i first made it.
lions2.jpeg

The other part i will propaply redo is the very ugly viewing gallery here aswell as the fence between them and the aardvarks. It works in game but it doesnt satisfy my realism itch as theres no reason why they could jump across this low fence. Also ignore the gemsbock, they broke in, blame fini she wanted them back when this was a wish for animals thing.
The pic also shows nicly how my skill imrpoved from what i considerd decently decorated a year ago, my current skill and a mostly empty habitat that i only terraformed so far.
Also see the building in the back?
lions1.jpeg

Good cause we are here now!
You can perfectly look from one side to the other, with the first pic taken roughly around the willow. Panorama shots like these are just very fun and ensure many unintended beautiful shots where by simply using terrain preemptivly in a smart way gorgeous shots are produced all the time without any concious effort.
lions5.jpeg

A bit to the side we find the main view of what i did today and yesterday with the ladder half of the habitat.
lions4.jpeg

A shot from above shows well how i layerd the area with 4 sections of faux rock walls and 2 dry moats, one in the back and one in the front, with the back leading to the holding, which is fully functional. The lions can go in on both sides to be seperated while the keeper can walk through the middle and pops out through the door.
lions.jpeg
So yeah, after atleast 15 hours total but 8 yesterday and today combined i finally finished my so far biggest and best build and i couldnt be happier.
Quite the big moment gotta say as my zoo finally has a new functional and beautiful heart piece that im proud of and isnt a filler habitat for wallabys.
I cant wait how good it will look once the savannah habitat in the back will be worked on, but for now im very pleased and content :)
