I think that is because it hits the 6pm slot on a Saturday so a lot of Kids will be watching it. I appreciated this episode more because it didn't show too much and hinted at a lot. I grew up with the Tom Baker episodes and the hidden menace was a lot more terrifying for a kid than the ones we get currently, but last nights episode had just enough menace to make it feel almost like a Tom Baker episode.
I can't help but think it just feels a bit..... 'silly'. kind of instead of being aimed at teens it's aimed at 10 year olds. IMO
I was always under the impression 10 year olds are the actual audience... it's kinda how I bill it: It's a kids show, that I happen to like a lot.
Edit: A kids show that doesn't treat kids like idiots.
you are absolutely right, I just think it's got younger.. if you know what i mean. It still feels quite 'big budget' Don't get me wrong, I like it too.

I'm one of the few people who warmed to Matt on his very first episode. Right when he said: Basically. Run. And that set the theme for the 11th Doctor right there too.
Season 1 with Matt smith i thought was brilliant with the Pandorica...River Song etc....Season 2 was ok but not as good.....The first episode of season 3 was a great story with the WiFi but somethings changed....The doctor dresses like a doctor and the tardis re-vamp hasnt been mentioned....Everthing now looks tidy like the old Dr Who Movies....and no more Dr Who confidentual...

BTW....Not keen on the new opening music either...seems to have been tamed slightly...or is it just me ?

I used to enjoy the confidential's more that the show sometimes, finding out how it all fits together was often the best bit, even if they did repeat things to fill time.
Who has defiantly gone down hill imo, Matt's first season was great but i think they are missing a key ingredient in the writing this time - it's all coming across as a bit plastic and forgetful - take this week, the explanation for loosing the tardis was like an afterthought.
ah well, next up in the sci-fi agenda is season 2 of continuum starting in a week, season one showed a lot of lot of promise - lets hope season 2 is just as good.
