Not a typical peccary and not wild boar either.
But it’s endangered and would be really cool to have.

While i wouldnt care too much i think the chacoan is just a inferior version of the collared ( regarding PZ anyways)
They have a much smaller range, are found in less habitats and are even less common in zoos making the collared just inherrently more usefull.
And, while more subjective, the chacoan looks a more similar to the wild boar. And because getting both a peccary and the boar is very much a real possibility i would prefer them to be as distinct from one another as possible

Both have their pros/cons. I think I'd prefer a collared peccary... But I'd be excited for either. Man, do I wish we had more of a pattern to go on with the anniversary animals.

Now I want a peccary. Haha. It could really be anything. And by "it," I mean the anniversary animal.

I think both Chacoan and collared peccaries have their uses. The Chacoan peccary fits a bit better in higher tier zoos given its endangered status, but the collared peccary can slot in just about anywhere else. I’d be happy to see them both if we hypothetically still had a huge amount of DLC to look forward to, but realistically I think I have a mild preference for the collared peccary and would overall be happy with either, or I guess even neither. They aren’t quite at the top of my American animals list, so if they have to get passed over for higher priorities, so be it.

My final bet for the anniversary is Banded Mongoose.

Honestly I will be happy with anything really. Free gift is a free gift.

Also, I find it funny that the Anniversary community challenge is already at 90%. It will be completed even before the Anniversary is even announced. Really weird timing.

The Chacoan peccary is much more common in AZA zoos.
