Fourth Anniversary

Between the rhea and crane I’d personally go for the crane. But with the rhea it does represent a much needed SA animal. Are either one essential imo? No the game would still be good with or without either one. Imo the title of most essential definitely belongs to a pelican. But since we’re talking anniversary either the crane or rhea would be great. I think somebody mentioned the Turkey in a earlier post. To me a Turkey would be great and imo brings more to the game then either crane or rhea. Personally I’m still quietly rooting for a clone type animal like the ABB.

I agree with all this except for your statement of saying that the Rhea isn't essential😅

He will be looking for you

My hopes are either American Black Bear, Caribbean Flamingo, or Red Wolf. All three I think are very important for NA zoos, shouldn't be too difficult to implement, and would overall just be fantastic additions. American Black Bears are an iconic bear in the Americas, would give us the much needed bear for the east coast, help complete the bears of the world, and it's just cute. The Caribbean Flamingo is just the superior Flamingo species and honestly I don't know why the Greater Flamingo is always picked when the Caribbean is what people think of when they think Flamingo. And the Red Wolf is a beautiful and critically endangered canine that would be great for NA zoos.

The crane I don't see happening and I would be the least excited for. I mean, any free animal would be welcome and appreciated, but I have African animal fatigue.

A lot of that stems from the fact we have the ostrich and emu which let’s face it are very similar. I do however understand they are common in zoos and represent SA very well. That being said I’d put them right on the edge of being essential to me though atp nothing beats the pelican in terms of habitat bird species. It’s a crime in it’s self it isn’t in game yet. But yeah when I view SA as a whole there’s for surely 6-8 animals I’d easily select over the rhea at the moment. To me the most essential SA animal would easily be the black howler.

Hot take I guess: I don't need the Rhea. We already have an ostrich and emu. If we get a bird please let it be a grey crowned crane. Or even a flamingo.. and I just wonder do any players here actually prefer getting the Rhea over the beautiful crane? I mean like if you had to choose and you could never get the other one in the future
Sure. I mean, I like them both, but ironically the crane is going to wind up being primarily used almost exactly like the ostrich, in mixed African hoofstock exhibits. On the other hand, the rhea fills a niche different from any other animal in the game.

I'd be surprised if we got a reptile or bird for free since they seem to need a lot more personal detailing in order to meet Frontier's standards (every single bird or reptile we've gotten in DLC has been stunning), so I would just generally caution anyone getting over their skis on that point.

This might be the year we don't have an anniversary too, and that's fine. We got two, which is more than PC got.

I'm guessing if we do get a free animal it will be a mammal, something like the American black bear makes a lot of sense, or perhaps a blackbuck. But free is free at the end of the day so you'll see no complaints from me
Hey, long time no see! Yeah, I agree we might get nothing this year. Wouldn't shock me.
Perhaps our first fish along with a seafood food stall?

Or a chicken and chicken nuggets stall
Honestly, as a north german the missing seafood stall in the aquatic pack was sad.
The birds and reptiles this year have been the same quality as the rest of the mammals though, so there’s not a big difference. The only difference is the new animations (monitor with diving or kiwis new animation set)
I'm not a reptile or a bird fan but both species are much better made than any cat in the entire game in my opinion. Frontier does have their strengthes and their weak spot.

The difference is the crane gives you a reason to build aviaries if you want to. The ostrich doesn't.

So while you can use the crane in most ways you can use the ostrich, you can also do a lot with the crane that you can't with the ostrich.

Hey, you never know. We did get the red deer, after all, and that was still requested after the fallow deer
The red deer is neither a new rig or literally one of the most popular birds. Infact the red deer was pretty much dead meat in most peoples eyes after the europe pack that missed its shot. It also was only desired by europeans that wanted to recreate their local wild parks so it also was very niche from the get go.
The red deer had all its shots fired and wasnt widly desired anymore, making it a popular animal with low worth to frontier that also wasnt that hard to do, making it a great choice for frontier to look generous while also not really loosing an animal that would sell a pack
