Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

And building off this as a new conversation starter, Other than monkeys and birds, what is everybody's top 3 groups that they need for the game to cover most?

1. Habitat reptiles, I would like some more lizards and tortoises especially.
2. Maybe a handful of more rodents, the Patagonian Mara is the highest on that list, followed by the agouti.
3. Exhibit animals. Yeah I want more variety, I love building reptile houses in game and I want more variety. So more reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates.

@KönigDerKaffeebohnen I have to agree with your meme being a NA player and all. They could add the sloth, spectacled, and ABB and I’d be as happy as can be. Now would I choose all 3 over animals like howlers, Muskox, markhor, etc.etc. No but if 2-3 yrs support remained absolutely.

ABB is a very funny animal for me, cuz everyone from NA desire it as one of the most essential animal while everybody else think is a mediocre animal at best.

This is what I have always said, whether an animal is popular has a lot to do with whether you have seen it in real life. Especially when it's more common only in your country and rarer and less special and cherished in other countries.

Not this NA player, I’ve been asking for birds for a long time. Wild Turkey, ocellated Turkey, burrowing owl, roadrunner, Whooping Crane, and waterfowl can all be easily implemented into the game. Unfortunately many don’t find birds as essential as I do, or they do but we all know as a community birds are simply needed everywhere so no point pointing them out.

African spurred tortoise is seriously underrated, I was hoping it would be our free animal :/
I do not like how small the tortoises feel in base game, they are way too tiny.

Peccary vs red river hog, some of us got very VERY upset about the idea of receiving a red river hog before a peccary for the sake of south American representation. Look at us now with both animals, I believe this was over the winter season before the tropical pack so the red river hog was already written in stone while there was full blown arguments about including it.

In hindsight that feels like a funny thing to get angry over, Red River Hogs are seriously prevalent in zoos. Yes peccaries are also present, but from my experience not as much as the RRH. I understand the feeling about SA representation, but I feel like that lies more on birds and monkeys (Frontier’s archenemies) than the peccary.

I’m hindsight it’s even funnier now we have both lmao.

The vast majority of the community wants birds in the game and agree they are very much essential for the game, it's just that some people on this forum (and a loud minority either way) that are against it because they gave up their hopes.

@Aramar I have to agree monkeys and birds flying/habitat are definitely the most essential animals to the game right now. I think you could count a manatee in too. Simply because of what it would bring to the game even if it was the only fully aquatic animal we got. Probably will never happen but…

I kinda understand why, given the way packs are formatted, we haven't gotten a rabbit yet but... Man, oh man, do I not understand the lack of waterfowl in-game. If we can have flamingos and cranes in-game and assume they can't fly why not just do the same for ducks?!

But yeah this game desperately needs ducks and swans (also getting the Nene would be a HUGE plus too)

@Narwhaler im hoping when frontier gives us the announcement they drop a tundra pack on us which would hopefully have the Arctic hare. That is if the bird dlc doesn’t happen of course.
