Remember, it's early days and they're still working on finalizing the flight model, but the key point to take away is that even at this point it far better than that of Elite Dangerous. Safe and secure in that knowledge when one buys that jpg of a ship that's not in the game yet, one can be absolutely positive that even though the ship is not in the game, and likely won't be for years (tbd), that it will most definitely fly better than what you could be flying right now in Elite Dangerous.
