Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Wow, that J_Kalven dude is almost as bad as ChatJ3PT. He acts like only he knows the truth and anyone who disagrees is wrong and doesn't understand game development.

A guy literally points out all the stuff CIG have shown off before that have never appeared in game and he says "Thank you for proving my point" when the guy was doing the opposite.
It's where trolls and bots and propagandists learn their trade. "How to desinform."

I go out to the city center almost every week to pubs, get drunk, and end up talking to random strangers.

On Monday met a Turkish civil engineer who had just been fired and was out celebrating, an Azerbaijani guy i think who was a regular at the pub, and a Russian girl.

Fun evening.
I thought "the pub" was a quite local phenomenon. If I go there does the music stop and every one turn around to me?
I think that Azeri guy might be American. Be careful - he has fooled quite a couple ppl.

Jared with the revisionist history about Sataball

Also saying in 2015 they didn't know when the PU was coming on line. The same year Chris said "By the end of the years backers will get everything they pledged for and more"

Lol, what an amazing retcon...

Wondered why my Sataball vid was getting hits 😁

Fun addendum by the OP there:

dude this episode was weird. he did his creeper thing where he leans into the devs' shot or the camera and whispers "do it" multiple times and then he signed off with "there's all these fundamentals going in...we're going to have to crap or get off the pot" before saying this may or may not be his last episode. he is very self-deprecating but it sounded much more off the rails today. i'm sure citcon killed him inside just a little bit capturing all that video and no gameplay so maybe he's just throwing a tantrum

I did notice a clip of him seeming somewhat jaded...

I wonder, when CiG will go under, what liquidators will find in there, usually they bring experts in order to evaluate the value of assets, physical or software. The inventory then would include all of these software pieces and their estimated value, like "item. 1134 - Sataball proof of concept, unfinished, est. $35". I bet there are quite a few quick-n-dirty slapped together CryEngine demos sitting in their archives, that were only used once for CitCon.

Looks time to do your first "rework" of a video! Add the new clip to the end of your original vid and upload it as a new one :D

The funniest thing is that I swear half of the vids will still hold up in 5 years and beyond ;). Like, Server Meshing will still be poop, missing deadlines, and absurdly shy of 1000s per location etc. The 100 systems will still be nowhere near in attendance or as promised. Yadda yadda ;)

Too many new topics to cover before I get to refreshes though anyway. Gotta do an aliens one for a start.

And it's gotta feature this guy 😁

It really highlights how much they repeat the stuff they said they'd already done year after year.

It makes it seem like there are whole teams that are just constantly working on the same things over and over and over again.

The 'model every hair' approach coming around for a second try was a real stand out for me...

Even though the last version seemingly ended with characters in the 6 million poly range at its most excessive...

Essentially those devs are just having fun in their own personal sandboxes. And the backers get to enjoy the executive summary. Of things that will never truly be...
