Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

I'm curious about how creative Frontier gets to be with the Jurassic World dinos vs Planet Zoo animals.

On the one hand - PZ animals are based on real animals that we can lool at and they will quickly get called out if the result is bintuwrong, while paleoreconstructions are always going to be more speculative.

But on the other hand - PZ is their own IP and they can make their own stylistic choices rather than having to match Universal's toy line.

Yeah, but I'd rather have it sleek in this case, just because I don't want another bodybuilder raptor😅
If I want realistic dinos, I'd just go to Prehistoric Kingdom. Have you seen their Velociraptor? It's a vicious little turkey
Yeah prehistoric kingdom is top notch in their designs.
Although i do really like some of JWs newer Stuff, like the utah and gigantoraptor ( which idk why its in a Predator pack lol )

That's the issue. They take creative liberties when introducing new species, but people in that community get mad and demand paleo-accurate animals. However, it's the Jurassic World universe; the dinosaurs aren't supposed to be paleo-accurate, so it kinda annoys me when a dino has a made up design and people get mad

I'm not big into JP/JW community so I didn't follow carefully, I just check in these DLC trailers from time to time, but isn't this the 2nd or 3rd pack with "Cretaceous" in its name?

Could that mean that second pack with "South America" is not that wild of a guess?
3rd. We've had the Early Cretaceous, Late Cretaceous, and now the Cretaceous Predator pack.

South America 2 is likely, but under a different name, I'm assuming. Like, say Latin America or Amazon

Idk to me its like if they put the wild boar in a Predator pack. I mean techically yeah, but really isnt what one would expect
Yeah, I see your point. But, in the long run, it's probably better because then they'd just give us another basic theropod, like an abelisaur or something, and it wouldn't be striking or dramatically different, which would seem lame in comparison. I mean, maybe something like the Deltadromeus would be different, 'cause it looks like a speedy Carcharodontosaurus, but besides that, I can't think of any Cretaceous predators at the top of my head (unless we include pterosaurs?)

Amazon would also be fine, wider South America would cover non tropical forest regions which is better.

Latin America doesn't really roll of the tongue and would be first cultural/ethnical based name for DLC. Like Slavic Europe DLC or Turkic Asia DLC.

But I had trouble coming up with reasonable name, orher than Latin America, for a pack that covers whole of SA. That's why I was wondering about name repetiton

What about Central America? A region like Southeast Asia was. Many of those animals are found in SA, as well

I don't really follow the JW games either but the Cretaceous is the longest of the geological time periods with dinos and contains 80% of the charismatic species people think of when they think dino. It's also part of the title of Camp Cretaceous in the JW universe.

In short, it encompasses so much that it's closer to the word "animal" in South American Animal Pack than anything else.

Megaraptor would have been cool. Metal af name and incredibly distinct looking

Central America could work as well as Amazon. Both are very good choices. Both have cons in leaving out South-South America, but maybe we'll see those in other packs. Monkeys are priority 💪

That's a fair point

Oh snap, forgot about those. But imagine casual fans seeing Megaraptor and it just looks like an overgrown Austrolovenator😅
"Frontier, where raptor? Study your dinosaurs"

Yeah, but there isn't a huge amount of Patagonian animals, really, apart from the mara and the rhea. Most of what people say is needed or wanted from SA is the Amazon and Andes anyway

Not this year.
For some reason they started to smurf so hard with their original designs even paleontologist started to praise their research effort and design team. Hard to be mad when most species are easly A tier designs at worst with only 2 of them being bad due to coming from Camp Cretaceous.

Well it seens like JWE got me more excited for a dlc than planet zoo, like my favorite animal of all times? Sign me in, my pc can't even handle JWE 2 but im buying it anyway.
Get it on console. I play on Xbox, and it runs so smooth and fast

The models are great, even the CC ones. I'm not disappointed with the realistic designs, but then again, why not make the unrealistic designs have realistic designs, too?
But anyways, these are just things I've seen with that community at large (not on the forums, but elsewhere)

I mean seriously.
People who are upset at lion design compared to new species should look at this image LOL.
