Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Idk about the stoat honestly. While it would be a cool and fresh new animal, it really is super tiny, smaller than meerkats even. And it doesnt even have the advantage of being kept in large groups to make up for it.
If were talking about something more traditional weasle like i think the yellow throated marten really is the best there is. (although it wouldnt really suit a tundra pack, unless its expanded to also include taiga animals)
Id personally would love a ferret for that body plan.
Many different color morphs, super common in zoos, culturally interesting, cute and the only carnivoran that could reasonable come in a domestic pack
Id see them as an absolute win

The European Mink is a great weasel-like animal which does both fill a geographical niche (in better representing Europe) and a conservation one (as it is critically endangered and present in European zoos, thus showing the importance of zoos in conservation). I'd take it over the Yellow-Throated Marten, although it would also be a great choice.

The tayra is also a really cool option for Non badger non otter mustelids. An surprisingly large almost fossa like animal from south america. And if we get the ozelot instead of margays this could be a nice animal for the small predator niche in south america
Although with SA so lacking its kinda difficult to view this as anywhere top priority.
But it feels to me like an absolutly out of nowhere oddball pick that frontier would throw into a SA pack.

Was about to say this. Would go fine with Seals, Sea Lions and Penguins. It would even help with "sea" representation as third option after pinnipeds and penguins, to diverisfy a bit.

And if we get Pelican you can have cool little coastal mini sections.
Yeah. You can even stretched it and also through the polar bear in that group of "sea" animals. I can totally imagine building a cold coastal section in a zoo with sea otters, seals and polar bears.

What would a tiny pack consist of? Most of the high appeal animals like meerkats and prairie dogs are already here, maybe mongoose, ferrets, guinea pigs?
honestly a tiny pack would be my absolute favourite
it realistically could have anything from a small ground bird, tortoises or turtles, a lagomorph, duck or another small water bird, mongoose or a weasel, monkeys, plenty of non monitor lizards such as iguanas.

  • banded Mongoose
  • rock hyrax
  • black footed ferret
  • numbat
  • chinchilla
  • pika
  • european hedgehog
  • tenrec
  • black and roufus elephant shrew
  • Golden lion tamarin
  • pygmy marmoset
  • emperor tamarin
  • cotton top tamarin
  • squirrel monkey
  • red squirrel
  • naked mole rat (ex)
  • european / Star nosed mole (ex)
  • pink fairy armadillo (ex)
  • siberian flying squirrel (WTE)
  • vampire bat (WTE)
  • Honduran white bat (WTE)

Like there are options lol

I'm not gonna say this would be wildly popular, but it could include something along the lines of:

  • A rabbit or hare. Snowshoe hare would prob be a hit. Guinea pigs maybe...
  • Tamarin
  • Bushbaby
  • Bush dog (I think these would count as being tiny enough)
  • Rusty-spotted cat
  • Small mustelid as mentioned, yellow throated martin probs the most eye-catching pick
  • I'd personally love a Red Squirrel but in lieu of that, an Indian Giant Squirrel or Flying Squirrel
  • Tayra was an excellent suggestion above

If that's too mammal-heavy, swap any of the above out for a tortoise or turtle that could cohabitate with larger repiles, as seen in many zoos.

  1. More bird representation
  2. Can make use of the diving mechanic
  3. Another sea bird but it isn’t a penguin
  4. The first bird for North America and Europe
  5. Colorful and stands out
  6. Perfect and cute
I need this immediately in my game please and thank you. Also, look AT THIS BABY!!!!!!!View attachment 375143
At the moment, the Atlantic Puffin is one of my most wanted animals. It would feel like a dream come true to get the Atlantic Puffin, and an absolute miracle if we later got Tufted Puffins further down the line to build some mix species habitats!

Tayras are a delightful species. Pictures don’t do them justice, they look like they’d be sluggish and probably nocturnal. In person, they’re one of the most active and charismatic species I’ve ever see .
