Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Oooh i forgot about the alligator snapping turtle. That one is also in my wishlist for habitat reptiles. I was actually hoping for it to show up as the exhibit animal in the NA animal pack.

I would love it as habitat but since they don't move much i would be happy with them as exhibit anyway.
Yeah, I’d be happy with them as either! Just would like to see them in game, however they come :)
Arrau and Fly Rivers however, I’d love to see habitat animals. Every time I’ve seen them they’ve been pretty active!

I used to not see it until somebody posted comparison shots. Snap, y'all have eagle eyes. I wish for the exhibit animals to have updated, regarding new models and also updated terrariums
Yeah that was me :D
Thats the weird thing, some of the basegame exhibits have quite nice models, the gila monster for example, but the snakes are several tiers below the tapir and lion even

Switching to crocs, Tomistoma anyone?
Never seen this one requested, feel like it’s kinda underrated.

I agree. Many of the base game animals still hold up to this day. The gharial and saltie are quite nice (although people have stated things wrong with the female model of the saltie). The ungulates in general seem good (we have some mistakes, like the bison).

But there's always some odd thing that looks off. Hopefully Frontier will see these requests and make a change one day

Reptile wishlist -
African dwarf crocodile - our first African croc and great for small spaces and tropical houses
Radiated tortoise - add a bit of on-the-ground flair to lemur habitats
Asian pond turtle - the same, but for gibbons and orangutangs
American snapping turtle - big boy go snap snap
Perentie - Australia gets its lizard

Exhibit -
Chameleon (any)
Gecko (any)
Anole (any)
Bearded dragon
Tuatara
Indian cobra
Emerald tree boa
Child's python
Corn snake

Oh dang, imagine we get a clone pack for winter🤣
  1. Slender snouted crocodile
  2. American black bear
  3. Sumatran tiger
  4. Mexican wolf
  5. Brazilian tapir
  6. Southern tamandua
  7. Masai giraffe
  8. Butterflies 2
    • Queen Alexandria's birdwing
    • Paper kite butterfly
    • Zebra longwing butterfly
    • Red admiral
    • Tailed jay
What is the Southern Tamandua a clone of? I don’t think there’s anything that moves like it in game! It’d have to be a completely new rig as far as I can think of. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love a tamandua, but I struggle to think of anything even remotely similar. The Giant Anteater’s locomotion is quite different, not to mention the Tamandua is arboreal.

Also a clone pack with no Wisent and Barbary Macaque ? I’d cry real tears of sadness :(

In all honesty though, a clone pack would NOT make me mad oddly enough. I think animals that are similar to base game animals are a necessary thing to make each zoo build unique! Everyone’s build has a Reticulated Giraffe, but imagine if we got to choose from the Masai and Reticulated? It would make every build that little bit more unique and special!

So, what have we figured out in 369 pages?

BASICALLY CERTAIN:
There will be a DLC in December 2023 (steamdb, established release schedule)

HIGHLY LIKELY:
Said DLC will be an animal pack (established pattern of 2 animal/2 scenery packs a year)

REASONABLE SPECULATION:
The DLC theme will have a temperate or cold-weather focus (meta-wishlist, previous 3 packs being the opposite)
The wolverine will be one of the new animals (aforementioned cold-weather hypothesis, new meta-wishlist #1)
To add onto this.

Frontier switched up their reveal-release schedule last time. Usually there's about 14 days between reveal and release, giving us an entire week between reveal week and release week. Last time however, it was 7 days. No idea if this is a permanent change or a one of, but still, it's a change nonetheless.

If Frontier is still doing their annual two week break at the end of the year, that might mean that we get an announcement next week and a release right afterwards; because if they don't they barely have time between release and their break to fix urgent bugs.

That's the funny part. It's our obligatory unique rig/animation animal we get each animal pack opposed to the 2-3 unique rig/animation animals we get in standard packs

I am personally afraid of alligator snapping turtles after some bullies pushed a kid into a pond that had them at a camp I used to go. I’ve seen some very big ones that I don’t think would be suitable for an exhibit.
Desert tortoise I could see as an exhibit as they are smaller.
A spurred tortoise I could see as a habitat, differs from our other 2 which are tropical tortoises while this one is a desert dweller.
I personally don’t want anymore crocodilians.
