Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

h been earned. We these old players are actually relatively unimportant, no matter what, will pay, the key is how to attract new people. At this point, I think we all know what we're missing.
I hate the idea that we are unimportant we still buy the packs if there is enough core players that continuously buy pack it may be worth on its own yes new players are important for growth but stable income just as good
I know he is a content creator, but why do you take his word as confirmation of anything? Does he work for Frontier? Does he have insight that other YTs don't? He might just be speculating like all of us. And we've been wrong year after year.

I honestly expect packs until June (included) and probably another anniversary animal. But this is just my gut feeling and is not based on anything concrete.
I dont trust content creators at all for speculation if I want the most accurate and realistic speculation I come here because we as a collective peer review and determine the strengths of each idea. Content creators create it all largely on their own so its full of personal biases and inaccuracies.

Im making a list of all missing taxa branches to see what is missing ingame what database do you guys think would be the most up to date and span the whole animal kingdom.

Interesting, Sdanwolf posted a video basically saying we don’t have much support left for PZ and we will see a console release soon in FY24, probably near the end of FY24 or beginning of FY25. I’m torn here.

I can’t see why they would stop development for PZ, as currently it’s at a very steady pace and I believe more packs can keep it going and keep it alive. However on the other side, we have new titles coming soon, we know one is coming probably next year, so a lot of their teams could be transferring over to work on that. I hope it’s the first option, but I honestly don’t know.
There were already theories by content creators that support will end soon in the Last and that was 2 years ago before we got the North America animal Pack. So this is nothing you can take as a valid confirmed information.

FWIW, I think this assumption is based on what was done with Planet Coaster in contrast to Planet Zoo (i.e., the last PlanCo DLC dropped shortly after Planet Zoo was announced). Which isn't a terrible gauge but... That was also four years ago and Frontier is in a very different spot.

I do think he highlights something that's worth noting though, that they expect "new platform releases for existing games" in FY24. I mean, it's safe to assume that could be Planet Zoo, right? I'm just not sure what else it could be. That said... I also don't know if that means they wouldn't release any further DLC - or if they'd stop. PlanCo is almost an unfair comparison because that happened long after development stopped.

This all could mean we get this December pack and then another DLC in spring (with a final one in June). Which would (likely) line up with the announcement of a new CSM title for fall 2024/FY25.

This is my hope as well. Only thing about a June DLC would be that the timing would be odd with a console port for FY24. But again, I have no idea how that works.

Depends on which taxon you want. Phylum, genus and species are all taxa, just on different levels of hirachy

Sorry if I was unclear in my original post im looking at all of it what phyla we are missing which classes order family, genra and species are also absent I wont look at subspecies since that is a mess. The goal being to map the most absent areas in the animal kingdom.

If they go to Summer they can also Go to autumn to fullfill the 5th year milestone and use the Christmas time for a final Winter DLC. So either now or spring or in one year. Summer seems really strange to me somehow.
Edit: But Business surely is No place for sentimentality

Oh, yeah no clue sorry

I definitely see the logic here and I'd agree it would feel like a "cleaner" end to the game. But FY24 ends in May so... Presuming that new console game is Planet Zoo it may stand to reason that's about when things will wrap up.

Yeah every database I look at splits things differently I could use the IUCN since that is pretty trusted but it is so out of data for some animals and since I want to share findings here I want to make sure its a database we agree is relatively accurate.
Im currently looking at the catalogue of life which seems relatively complete and up to date but does have some issues. A plus is that it is easy to use and has convenient percentage charts for the break down of different taxonomic sections.

Is there a possibility that the income brought by us old players only balances the daily expenses. When doing financial calculations, it can no longer bring new profits, and every company must find new growth points. It’s not that we are unimportant. It’s just like you have a fixed income of US$5,000 per month, but this money is only enough for your daily expenses and cannot allow you to do the things you want to do. At this time, you need to increase your income.

we dont know for sure how much the core player contribute but it is possible that we are not enough but its not negligible.

It’s not that it wouldn’t be well received it’s just that it’s very unlikely we get two pigs back to back, doesn’t seem like a frontier thing to do as the only time this has happened is the foxes in Africa and NA packs.
SEA, Africa, NA was 3 canines in a row.

NA, Europe was 2 cats in a row.

Arid was 2 antelopes in one pack.

If they see a reason to include the wild boar in the next pack, I don't see the peccary stopping them.

Being 4 years into the game's development, this point gets closer and closer. It's inevitable to happen at one point, especially as even without extra development Planet Zoo comes with additional costs to Frontier in terms of keeping servers running for Franchise mode. Even regardless of that, the costs of developing Planet Zoo also rise. Inflation, your team becoming more experienced and because of that more expensive, etc. What covers today's expenses might not cover it anymore next year.

The whole "it's still doing well financially" has always been based on the right now, but a company has to think further than that. If Frontier for instance knows that they'll reach the point where it only breaks even if they continue adding new DLCs in the near future, then it's perfectly reasonable to stop when you're still sure about your income. It's not an uncommon thing to happen at all.

At the end the whole topic does not make sense again. It is Just the feeled 30th repeat of "End is near or Not" discussion with a new painting on it within the Last half year. At the end it is clear. We do not know what the exact income is and we do not know the Plans of Frontier. What Frontier has written within their Last Report was that the Game is still success If I remember right. How big this success is we also do not know.

Am I the only one who finds it strange to discuss the finances of a company when you can only speculate about it and have no insight facts?

Btw what some content creators say doesn't interest me at all. Most of them (not all!) are only interested in the clicks, views and likes and they notice that hardly anyone is interested in what they are building anymore. At least that's the case for me, I just don't feel like it or have the time to watch a speed build for 30 minutes, I'd rather invest the time in playing myself. So they tell you about the near end rather than stating the obvious. and that really annoys me! That's why I didn't subscribe to any of them except for Leaf. I really don't need to hear this. Of course I can't speak for others, but it's definitely the case for me. 🤷‍♀️
