Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

And now for everyones once a day reminder to pay attention to frontiers socials tomorrow. Tomorrows the real deal.
Today was just a joke, I knew nothing was coming (hehe).

I wouldn't hate them adding this as a tick-box but the second they tried to add a new facility to implement this... I would riot. Haha. But at the same time, I can see it feeling pointless along the lines of the exhibit humidity (i.e., it requires no skill or thought; just adjust to what they tell you to do).

But I'm also in the camp who doesn't care for how most of the facilities/management things we're required to place have been implemented. From the staff buildings to the utilities to the heaters/coolers for animals. I get why they're there (i.e., it's a game and you need to give the player some sort of challenge) but they could all have been done way better with a focus on realism that would have made the game feel more immersive when playing in non-sandbox mode (and less tedious for the player). But that's another topic for another thread...

The Arid pack was the longest in a while. Prior to that the pattern was pretty consistent for about a year (~10 days). So I'd assume it'll be closer to that than anything longer... But that JWE2 release on the 30th may cause them to do it a bit earlier. So I could see a reveal happening on Wednesday.

EDIT: What has you thinking it could be tomorrow?!! Just a hunch?
yeah the facility management is incredibly surface level and I wouldnt want to see saltwater added unless it was a complex and meaningful addition unlike humidity. People will think it will happen earlier in the week to avoid clashing with jwe2 as they have a pack launching at the end of the work week. We think its this week in particular because it will have to release on the 12 or 19 since they have released every pack on the same day of the week its likely to be the 12th to avoid being too close to the Christmas break which would put the latest teasers can begin to have them all done by release being this week for an animal pack or next week if its a scenery pack.
Unless they do 7 days like they did with the last scenery pack. That would mean they changed their setup again, which wouldn't really surprise me anymore 😂
they need about 9 days if its an animal pack 1 day each animal and a devlog they cant get much smaller than that unless it isnt an animal pack.
Can you really blame me when people have said far worse things completely serious 🥺

Example: Eurasian otter would be a good pick
eurasian otter is fine the people asking for an african otter on the other hand.
Planet coaster 2 more likely IMO

Planet aquarium or planet museum would be absolute dreams though
if we are getting a planet coaster 2 it will be the first or second game the third very well could be a planet zoo 2 as enough time will have passed for it to be close to being finished if they have already started work.
If we get PZ 2 so soon after this one i will feel like i was scammed. I've invested lot of money into this game to start all over again so soon just to buy the same animals + birds/fish.
I will only be annoyed if it doesnt add all the animals in pz1 from the beginning other than that a fresh start with better tools is something i would be happy to see.
Could be easily made like humidity etc. in exhibits.
I don't see that feature as neccessary, yet educational.
If its like humidity is better to not exist.
We litterally have no idea, there's no evidence that a sequence is happening (the only evidence is JWE2, which is under controll of universal and frontier have little control what they can do in the game) besides frontier can be holding birds for any reason, like a final pack, boost up dlc sales or by no reason at all, as we received the WE mechanic on a random ocasion.
We can speculate though as it stands the biggest wants the community at large has are flying birds and marine animals both of which dont quite work within the game. Flying birds in particular are likley impossible to add as habitat animals and are suspiciously absent from the walkthroughs. A reimagining of the game 5 years later will likely fix many of the issues we have such as bad quality of base game animals, the addition of more complex care mechanics, birds and improved exhibits.
I don't think they are actually going to stop planet zoo support this financial year at least, further up in the same report mentions that CMS games like planet coaster, Zoo and jwe are the most consistent form of profit. Supporting new releases and contracted games is likely going to happen regardless, and elite dangerous is still probably the most profitable game Frontier has.
until they release another planet game and need the team they wont end support so if the CMS game next year isnt a planet game planet zoos support will continue.
I understand that since those 4 games are so successful, they are going to make three new ones of the same style, but they are also continuing their other games which are not CMS. I don't worry about PZ. They keep it's a successful game, there's no reason to stop it.
yeah I think they felt no need to say support will continue for planet zoo or the other CMS games but the 4 non CMS games mention their future was more unclear
There is no challenger that can take on PZ, the closest thing we have is games like JWE2 and PK but only because they are park management games, but PZ is still very unique because of its modular system and it has animals rather than dinosaurs. As long as the game stays at a decent financial rate with every DLC, and no new challengers come up which I don’t see any time soon, there shouldn’t be any reason to stop making packs. Unless the layoffs did that big of an impact that it will effect the work quality or time management, but that’s really something none of us know about.
Nothing challenges planet zoo in the realistic zoo builder every other zoo building game present has a very cartoony style keep in mind planet zoo took this title from a close to 15 year old game zoo tycoon 2 which was still fairly popular until planet zoos release. Planet zoo has the market in a chokehold and likely will have the longest longevity out of any of the cms games.
Is FY2024 April 2023-2024 or is it April 2024-2025? I'm not sure how it works. Three games in three years is a lot, I wonder if all three are planet games or if this includes licensed games?

Either way I think one of them is probably Planet Coaster 2 and another is probably a new series.
I think at least on of them is pc2 the last one is likley to be a pz2 since that is enough time for a reasonable release if they have already started work and the other one i have no clue what it could be

Interesting, Sdanwolf posted a video basically saying we don’t have much support left for PZ and we will see a console release soon in FY24, probably near the end of FY24 or beginning of FY25. I’m torn here.

I can’t see why they would stop development for PZ, as currently it’s at a very steady pace and I believe more packs can keep it going and keep it alive. However on the other side, we have new titles coming soon, we know one is coming probably next year, so a lot of their teams could be transferring over to work on that. I hope it’s the first option, but I honestly don’t know.

One also needs to consider that you cant just transfer teams between games. Depending on the game developers and designers might find themselves entirely in the wrong place, like you cannot simply put Messi into the NBN. Also if there is a new game coming out later this year most or atleast a large chunk of the work will already be done, so i dont even know if swapping a bunch of new people into a running project even is a good strategy.
Ofcourse i have very little understanding of game design, but as an artist myself who recently had to make something im unfamiliar with i can they that its not an effective thing :D
Also maybe i have just a biased view due to me wanting more content.

I always take what YouTubers say with a grain of salt. Like, take that content creator, ChuckSGamer; he hasn't done anything but I really despise that guy, cant trust him as far as I can throw him...

Because the star animals have pretty much been earned. We these old players are actually relatively unimportant, no matter what, will pay, the key is how to attract new people. At this point, I think we all know what we're missing.

I know he is a content creator, but why do you take his word as confirmation of anything? Does he work for Frontier? Does he have insight that other YTs don't? He might just be speculating like all of us. And we've been wrong year after year.

I honestly expect packs until June (included) and probably another anniversary animal. But this is just my gut feeling and is not based on anything concrete.

Can’t wait to say I told you so tomorrow lol

Just checking lol
Don't mind me. Just in an obnoxious mood, and I gotta let off some steam after being killed twice in PoT. I hate Megalania and Kentros

I mean, most content creators state a bunch of theories and then when one of them is right they're like: "I knew it"
They be like:

He was talking about your evil twin.

I wasn’t saying he has concrete evidence just wanted to bring it up for discussion.
