Jurassic World Evolution 2: Cretaceous Predator Pack and Update 8 coming 30 November

I’m gonna be honest, I’m not that thrilled about the pack. The update- 10/10 amazing perfect additions love that they’re listening to people wanting benches and bins. But the pack itself though,

It just feels eh compared to other species packs. Other packs felt like they had something special about them, marine had 3/4 new species we’ve never seen before, we got the dunk, a turtle, and a salamander like creature, stuff that was completely new. With the feathered pack, we got the bat, Deinocheirus also being another new type of herbivore, and they expanded on the theme of feathers, which is what I’m pretty sure everyone wanted.

However this pack, it doesn’t have anything special. It’s 4 more carnivores that look pretty much the same as the ones we already have and don’t have anything unique about them. I’m fine with the CC Tarbo, I wish it was a variant for a realistic Tarbo, but I’m not that fussed about it. Concavenator is a large australovenator, gigant is a large oviraptor, and Utah is a slightly modified pyro. There’s nothing here thats really a show stopper.

This pack just feels like fan service, it crosses off all 4 species people wanted in a pack theme that doesn’t really have much to it, it’s a predator pack, otherwise known as a “here’s 4 more carnivores pack” when we didn’t need them.

I really thought because of us only getting 2 packs before this and the statue being a bit lacking as a gift compared to last year, this was gonna be an expansion. But it wasn’t, and that’s honestly sad imo, because that’s what this game needs, attractions, new building sets, ways to make parks more unique, and while they have been doing a decent job at this, they could be doing so much more, plus expansions get players to return, no one’s gonna return after a year of not playing for 4 more carnivores, like really?

If they had to keep this as a species pack I would’ve like to see something like a crocodile or kaprosuchus here to really spice up the roster and give us something truly new.

Overall, this pack feels like it’s made for people who are currently building really big parks and want to add more variety to carnivore areas or people who are currently playing the game, but for people who haven’t played in a while like me, this doesn’t get them excited to play the game again, species packs back to back wasn’t a good start for that anyway, but this one’s even more lacking than the last 2, because it doesn’t have an interesting theme at all. Now, I will buy this pack because I want to feature all the recent packs in a new park series, but I’m disappointed, the last 2 packs were so much better than this one imo.

First, the pack... Models and animations look great, but there is no variety: only carnivores. I had the same issue with the Marine DLC.

Second, The free update... The new decorations are very welcome! Until now there was something missing. I'm curious about all the prebuilt layouts, especially the movie locations.
Changing some skins into variants and adding new variants is a great idea, can't wait to see the new patterns.
Pack chase behaviour will add a nice, more natural behaviour.

We're missing some new attractions (River Cruise, Ballon Tour...) and the return of the missing hybrids...

I doubt that they'd end JWE 2 after only 2 years if the game is still making a good profit. PlanZo has lasted 4 years, potentially hinting at a 5th year. PlanCo lasted 3. JWE 2, I believe, will receive at LEAST 1 more year. It should, as there are still many requests for future expansions/DLCs, animals, build sets, and free update features
It's a licensed game. And like every other licensed game before, support will stop when the contract expires. The biggest hope at the moment can only be that the last patch that will come won't bring with it any extreme bugs.

Planet Zoo is Frontier's in-house project and is therefore not subject to any restrictions on third parties.

I know this already. However, seeing the success that JWE is bringing, I doubt that it'll end soon. Unless Universal is dumb and ends the contract while JWE is at its most profitable point

I have 3 questions:

1. The pack chase behaviour is just medium-large sized carnivores chasing dinosaurs who cant defend themselfes like edmontosaurus, parasaurolophus and gallimimus or they can attack defensive dinosaurs together as a pack like stegosaurus, triceratops and ankylosaurus? and do they attack sauropods together?

2. The automated hatcheries, if you hatch 4 triceratops with various colors and put 4 as their max population, will they hatch again after they die with their own respective color or the hatchery will just use the last color you selected to replace the ones who died?

3. The feathers of therizinosaurus and feathered t-rex from biosyn expansion are fixed?
Any dev to clarify these questions?

I am so hyped for this pack here is to hoping that we get a Cenozoic pack with Smilodon, Mammoth, Terror Bird/ Paraceratherium, and Meglodon. A hybrid pack would be cool as well giving us the three missing hybrids with the Spinoceratops and maybe some Brad, and Chad Ranger outposts.

If we're going with this mentality, then it doesn't matter what animals are added anymore because they're "just X version of what we already have". Why add any new spinosaurids, they're gonna look like Suchomimus. Why bother adding any other theropod, they're gonna look like Tyrannosaurus/Giganotosaurus/Carnotarurus/Velociraptor/etc. Why bother adding more armored dinosaurs, they're just edits of Triceratops/Stegosaurus/Ankylosaurus. Any new hadrosaurs are gonna be almost exactly like Parasauralophus or Edmontosaurus. All the pterosaurs will look the same, all the sea creatures will be clones of existing ones, you get the point. I've seen people who want half the animals in the game removed because they're "too much like the only ones we care about", i.e. the famous dinosaurs everyone knows about. And that's a really stupid mindset. Imagine demanding a zoo to remove all of the big cats that aren't lions or tigers because "they're too similar to care about". Or removing all of the bears that aren't grizzlies, or all of the African herbivores that aren't the elephant, rhino, and hippo. The other dinosaurs and reptiles are no less worthy of being in the game than Tyrannosaurus, Velociraptor, Mosasaurus, Brachiosaurus, Triceratops, et al.

I wouldn't say that. The Tarbo and Utah may be similar to what we have, but the Gigantoraptor is nothing like we have in-game, especially after seeing the species guide.
And the Conc is just so weird looking that it's great on its own and probably sold the pack for most people

This isn’t my point, if you compare this games packs to planet zoo for example, planet zoo had really unique animals in the first couple years like meerkats, foxes, seals, penguins, etc stuff that was completely new or atleast had unique features that separates them from the rest.
After a couple years pass we started to get animals that were similar to other animals, a second wildebeest, second camel, etc.

This pack feels like it has the quality of a pack that should come out next year, when they put a little less effort in packs because they’re realistically gonna move onto other projects.

This pack could’ve been way more unique though. I admit, Giga I underestimated, I didn’t think they would give it a complete new set of animations like we saw in the field guide. I still feel like it could’ve had one more unique creature like kaprosuchus or Helicoprion. But who knows, maybe Concavenator has a complete new set of behaviors as well, I’ll have to check it out Thursday.
