Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

It would feel kind of unfair to only recieve 1 animal pack this year. I like the balance of 2 scenery and 2 animal packs. I hope such thing does not happen.
Currently there are 10 Scenary Packs and only 5 Animal Packs, so it's not really balanced 2 = 2 per year, but now I prefer more animal packs because the need to cover a lot of interesting and requests animals after the end of support that isn't far away

I get that people are hyped and desperate but how fast is this thread?
Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to leap tall buildings in a single jump. Yes, it's the thread of Planet Zoo, the thread of steel: Winter 2023 DLC Speculation thread

I doubt we'd get only 1 animal pack this year. They are quite popular with a large chunk of the playerbase, and giving 3 standard DLC would see meh to many
Considering how short the wait was since the last dlc, its really surprising how much the majority of us are so desperate for new content. It would make sense if more people are posting more since its dlc season but its just the same people repeating the same its this hour arguments day after day.
Hey, I only said it once. I'm not that repetitive

Well as good as the Oceania pack was i feel like not many of us got any of their most wanted animals and other than the devil the community as a whole didn't got any of the top most wanted either and it was another warm weather pack. So i guess we all want either something different or something that we have asking for a long time.

I honestly have to agree. It was a great pack in general, and I'm very happy for those who wanted these animals plus that Oceania as a whole got a huge boost (to the point that many of us agree that it is ok, from an international standpoint).
But it didn't scratch the itch of many. I know it didn't fully scratch my itch, and I loved the roster. I just don't use Australian animals that often in the 1st place to think it was the best pack this year, which actually goes to the Tropical pack, in my opinion

I mean im also desperate for new content, i think i made my point clear enough that while the year was good for the game to me personally it was mostly just one big boring mess of disappointment and boring new content and i doubt that im alone on that.
I just want one pack this year thats generally usefull and fun the way last years packs were instead of either super specific regional pack next to worthless if your not building for or in that region or the most boring yet competent polishing of tropical areas most of us didnt need to be polished before others got their bare minimum.
This years new content was plain boring and not usefull to me, but still theres no need to chant the pack i want over and over and over again and spam this thread like theres no tomorow.
It just makes it tedious for other people to keep up with it and drowns anything actually interesting

I agree with this too. Every pack brings the hope of flying birds as number one for me, and then endless big wishlist animals after that. While Oceania brought the devil and kiwi, I’m hoping for some animals in my top 10-20 in the next pack.

I wouldn't say boring, necessarily, but more what we didn't expect. I mean, some stuff was boring, and I will admit that I thought that the Arid pack and its accompanying update was one of the most lackluster things so far. Let's take each one at a time:

Tropical pack and Update 1.13
  • By far the best pack and most useful update. The animal selection was varied and all are pretty flexible for different settings. I especially like the walls that came with it, so a wonderful build set
  • The null paths are awesome and can make walkthrough habitats and even parks and gardens much nicer. The new animal sociality is actually fun because it gives an added challenge of making sure that your animals have adequate numbers instead of spamming a bunch of males and females together. Let's not forget the climbable toggle, which can help prevent escapes and stuff, as well as the update to allow gibbons (and eventually orangutans) to use the brachiation mechanic on multiple objects as opposed to just the enrichment objects
Arid pack and Update 1.14
  • A pack that is pretty much all clones. It's not simply that they're clones, it's that there isn't much variety in the 1st place. The animals themselves are awesome, but they are all very similar and don't offer much variety. A baboon would've been nice, a potential bird? But instead we got 5 ungulates, a cat, and a porcupine. The porcupine is really the one that seems to have sold the pack, and if it wasn't included, I'm sure that the pack would've been one of the worst by far. To make matters worse, it was advertised as the Arid pack, giving the impression that it'd be animals from different arid environments worldwide, but it was solely North African animals; if it was called the Sahara or North African pack, it might've been better received
  • As fun as colorable staff uniforms are, it's not something I really use; it's more of aesthetic, eye candy, nothing more in my opinion. The new camera modes and stuff are useless if you don't do video editing, which contributes to a huge chunk of players. And the camelid spitting animation; that was actually my favorite feature because it's funny and something I enjoy seeing everytime it happens
Oceania pack and Update 1.15
  • The animals are not bad, but they cater to players from Oceania and/or players that recreate Oceanian zoos. The only 2 highly requested on this list were the Tasmanian devils and the North Island brown kiwis. The rest were just bonuses (nice bonuses, but still). So, this pack, while beautifully made, didn't satisfy a lot of needs. But at least many agree that international Oceanian collections are well fulfilled
  • The orangutan got a boost by having the brachiation mechanic added, something asked for since summer 2022. Oceania, specifically New Zealand, received a temperate map, although the map skirt isn't entirely accurate and breaks immersion for many; it's a mixed bag. And the best feature is probably the viewing domes, allowing us to make guest attractions where they can see the animals up close and in complete safety; only problem is that the entrance is huge

All in all, it wasn't a bad year, but I will admit that the last 2 packs in particular have been region specific and therefore not as useful or fun as they could've been
Imagine if it the opposite of a mountains pack🤣
