Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

And in regards to UK Zoos with lots of Highland wildlife that Planet Zoo could take some inspiration from, there’s a couple.

Highland Wildlife Park
• Domestic Yak
• European Bison
• Himalayan Monal
• Himalayan Tahr
• Mishmi Takin
• Scottish Wildcat
• Turkmenian Markhor
• Vicuna
• Wolverine

Port Lympne Safari Park
• Andean Bear
• Barbary Lion
• European Bison
• Mishmi Takin
• Pallas’ Cat
• Vicuna

I’m sure there are others, but there’s two places I can think of off the top of my head with significant highland animal holdings.

Not that Planet Zoo HAS to take inspiration from real life zoos but. If they were to do a Highlands Pack, it’d be silly not to visit the Highland Wildlife Park.

Yay me too! My other favourite just cause it's so quirky is Cotsold Wildlife Park. I can't get there tho cause I don't have a car. It's one of the only reasons I'd want a car tbf! They allow dogs as well so it would be amazing to take my pup. One day one day... have you been? I think those and London Zoo are the only UK zoos I've been to...would love to go to Chester as well.
I’ve never been to Cotswolds, but I’d love to go! It’s on my list to visit soon.

I’ve been to a few UK zoos. I’ve made a list of all the zoos I’ve been to, and here’s the UK section:

Chessington World of Adventures
Chester Zoo
Drusillas Park
Edinburgh Zoo
London Zoo
Longleat Safari Park
Noah’s Ark Farm Zoo
Paradise Wildlife Park
Welsh Mountain Zoo
Whipsnade Zoo
Woburn Safari Park

Edinburgh I visited two days ago to say goodbye to the Giant Pandas, and I have to say it was gorgeous!

UK Zoos are wonderful! A lot of them are situated in some kind of countryside setting, giving animals lots of space and wonderful views. I love that Frontier’s base is here in the UK - seeing them take inspiration from places I’ve been to myself is really interesting and fun!

So what are the most likely potential inclusions for a highlands pack then? Trying to sum up from 452 the ~300 pages that are actually speculating on the pack?

Almost givens they are inclusions:
Markor
Spectacled Bear - unless they go regional specific, which if I do I suspect it'll be more in the area where you find the Markhor.

Heavily requested and showing up on a lot of the lists but not almost for sure inclusions:
Pallas Cat
Gelada
Takin

Heavily requested and showing up on a lot of the lists but also considered not a "mountain" animal (which I disagree with but it's been said)
Wolverine

Significant requests but are also absent from a significant amount of lists
Golden Snub Nosed Monkey
Himalayan Tahr
Rock Hyrax
Himalayan Monal
Tree Kangaroo species
Highland Cow
Rocky Mountain Goat
Bighorn Sheep
Hamadryas Baboon (only if the Gelada doesn't make it in of course)
Barbary Sheep
Alpine Martin

Few requests since it's debated if it's a right fit for a Highlands theme, but overall a heavily requested animal
Muskox

Not many requests for it since it's not a mountain animal, as it can't even get on land to get to the mountains
West Indian Manatee

What else am I missing here?

I would add Alpine Marmot on last category. Not terribly popular, but I think I saw it in more lists than Tree Kangaroo and Highland Cow.

Agreed, while the bear is exclusive to a highlands pack, the Pallas cat can fit a Eurasia/Himalaya and Highlands pack. Plus both are popular.
I think Spectacled Bear is easier to make, has been popular for longer periods, more present in irl zoos (if I'm not mistaken) and has been in zoo games before.

That's why I would agree with Jcp on the placement

Thank you! I've added them both!

Can't wait to get my man, Alpine Martin

ALSO. To those who say a Muskox does not belong in a Mountains/Highlands/Alpine Pack…

I can actually find as much (if not more) evidence of Muskox living in what we would consider a ‘Mountains’, ‘Alpine’ or ‘Highlands’ environment than Markhor, most Takin species, Wolverine, Spectacled Bear, Hamadryas Baboon, and many other top ‘Mountain Animal Pack’ picks.

Fair point. I will add this to the same section the Wolverine is in, I've added this to a new section since it's being debated if it's a right fit for the theme.
