I really think it is Safari Animal Pack...
Bros really taking every opportunity lol

But seriously speaking, I feel like they almost made it too easy to guess what the pack is. Like I get them dropping small hints but flat out dropping the name of the pack (Eurasia) it feels too easy, like a set up. Plus with people not liking Arid because it only focused on Africa (yes I know this wasn't the sole reason people didn’t like it but it was a popular complaint) it doesn’t seem logical to make another animal pack focusing on one continent. Oceania I get because it has scenery to back it up, but I feel like Arid was such a mid pack to a-lot of people because it didn’t have scenery and was one continent focused.

But that’s just my take on it, it could very well be a Eurasia animal pack, but also wouldn’t it make more sense to release these challenges when the pack actually launches so it motivates people to use the new creatures?

At this point... I'm at a loss. It could be anything. There's at least 4-6 themes that are just as likely as highlands/mountains/alpine/whatever based on what's in the top five of the meta wish list, what's already been released this year, etc. There's zero patterns or hints. And the fervor the community has for highlands/mountains is making me think it's not going to be that (but that there will be a few frequently mentioned animals that find their way into the pack by happenstance). So I'm just gonna sit tight until we get more info tomorrow. LOL

Thinking about the livestream, though, a few things:
  1. Wondering if they'll drop the update info earlier in the day like they've typically done or if they might drop a second tease via socials leading up to the livestream and reveal the info live with the post coming after the stream. The community response to that approach was great last time... So I could see them doing it again.

  2. Lydiah mentioned via socials over the weekend that she would be part of the livestream! :) Really, really awesome to hear!

  3. People latching onto the "discover together" wording in the tweet about the livestream might be onto something. It would arguably be a low-impact (e.g., inexpensive, less time-consuming to plan/set-up) way of doing the stream while still keeping it creative and engaging. A hike through the mountains, a visit to a gift shop, roaming the Amazon... Lots of options! I'm excited to see what they do.

It could be a red herring? I think we could rule out: Eurasia and Tundra.
I think Alpine is possible, not only that but highly likely. The other two I think are likely are Latin America and "Safari"

Up until the last two packs the community challenges didn't ever really tie to the DLC themes. But there was some sort of link to the DLC in the challenge leading up to the announcement of each pack for the last two... Whether that was intentional or just a happy mistake nobody knows.

I'm not reading into that for this DLC release. If it happens again, and the DLC is centered on Eurasia? Then I'll buy into the theory. But not until then.

Well a safari pack would be a good way to include the Secretary bird. I would think though if it is a safari pack PZ should have a years worth of dlc left as I would never expect a safari pack to be one of the final packs. Unless they included a bit of everything from all over of course like some game ending 20 animal pack. Seriously though I have no idea what it could be and I still think it could be anything.

Yeah this is what my thoughts are, they’ve never straight out said the name of a new pack before it was announced, especially during us getting clues about said pack.

It can cover people’s most wanted areas all at once.
People who want SA rep: Merry Christmas you get Spectacled bear and Vicuna!

People who want primates: Merry Christmas you get Gelada!

People who are Wolverine fanboys: Merry Christmas you get your mustelid overlord!

People who want caprines because of the total of ungulates this year: Merry Christmas you get Markhor and Takin!

It satisfies everyone, has variety of species types, covers a few high meta wishlist animals, has lots of clones I would think, and covers a variety of continents. It makes the most sense out of all the ideas. This would be in my thinking, the smartest decision they could do.

Add in an Ethiopian wolf and its a good pack. Although you probably don't want the Ethiopian wolf.

People who want birds: Yay i guess there is a slim yet existant chance Frontier will look past their ornithophobia and include a pheasant. Im on copium

Habitat birds are more important than any of that by a long shot and a mountain pack is perfect for a waterfowl rig (bar-headed goose) or a clone like the monal.

Regardless I don't think the community challenges mean anything at all.

I mean there’s only 7 spots, you can’t please everyone. My top picks i would sort like this:
The absolute essentials for an alpine pack are:
  • Spectacled Bear (SA rep and we haven’t had a new bear in a really long time)
  • Markhor (basically the icon of the mountains)
Animals that are really likely to be included:
  • Wolverine (not solely a mountains animal but because of its status on the meta I’m confident we’ll get it in a pack like this)
  • Pallas Cat (Frontier loves felines, a perfect clone of sand cat, need I say more?)
Animals that would be really good additions that frontier could include but may not make the cut:
  • Takin (I just don’t know if frontier will include 2 caprines, I know they’ve done it before, but I just don’t know)
  • Primate (1. Baboon 2. Clown Monkey) Both are well represented for mountains, both have flaws though that could be seen as not profitable or not usable)
Animals that would be fun additions but aren’t that needed in a pack like this:
  • Hyrax (It’s not the first thing people think of when thinking of mountains, but it would be great for a wildcard and mixed enclosures)

Okay so what "getting the rhea ontop off all the ratites and penguins we already got" when im asking for birds feels like to me:

Imagine there are no ungulate in the game besides giraffe and zebra for example, and you really like ungulate because of their grazile and elegant build, beautiful adornments and so on. So you would really like some gazelles, antelopes and deer in the game, but all you get ungulate wise are different species of rhinos and hippos. Their cool on their own right but really the most untypical ungulates out there. So 4 years in there still isnt a single antelope or deer, instead you got 5 rhinos and 3 hippos.
