Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Saiga is unfortunate there are far better Asian ungulate choices: Blackbuck, Markhor, Muntjac
Sloth bear is quite good, not as good as spectacled bear but a bear nonetheless
Takin and Wolverine are both incredible picks
I’m hoping for a bird maybe golden pheasant and a langur

Ok that explains it. A second ant eater would have been weird 😅

I don't know why some people are so hostile towards Asian animals. As the largest continent in Asia, its species richness is definitely the highest. If we really want to compare, Asia can definitely have the same proportion as Africa in the game.

And for PZ, sales are the most important. Most Asian players actually don't make comments on forums, so the forum definitely underestimates the number of Asian players and their purchasing power. You will see how crazy Chinese players will be for the takin and snub-nosed monkey.

They seem to be kept in china and atleast planned to be kept in more eastern european zoos and in china.
Also one of those 2 zoos has hundreds of them, their captive population is actually far larger then more popular animals like takins or the sloth bear
You are talking about Askaniya Nova, aren't you? I wouldn't call it a regular zoo and unfortunately because of the war in Ukraine it's not clear how many saiga antelopes are still living there.

Sloth bear bringing piggyback riding is interesting. Assuming this behavior could be part of the free update there is likely at least one (hopefully more) base game animals and perhaps DLC species getting this behavior.
I hope them eating termites means they have been looking at the natural-looking termite mound enrichment again, making it usable by more species which has been requested for a long time. But it could just be for the bear

I, personally, am not. The issue is that it's gearing up to not really expand this game's biodiversity at all with the teased animals being two ungulates and two carnivores. There are two potentially fantastic waterfowl choices, monkeys, the demoiselle crane (symbol of India and among the most common zoo animals full stop), and I can't help but expect that if it's an animal pack that the remaining three slots will just go to more ungulates and carnivores, or if we're lucky a crocodilian.

If it is indeed an adaptations pack as some have suggested here are my picks for the remaining habitat animals:
  • Black Howler Monkey
  • Roseate Spoonbill
  • Gerenuk

Is not against asia. We all wanted takin, markhor, blackbuck, etc.

Just not saiga. Out of all the choices for ungulates they chose the most niche, weird and the less popular.

My thoughts:
1. Takin- Definitely one of the animals I want most. I don't really have any other thoughts on their inclusion, I'm just really excited!

2. Wolverine- I could have lived without their addition but a solid choice. I expected them to come eventually and will use them often in place of a lot of the other North American carnivores.

3. Saiga Antelope- I'm not super keen on their inclusion. People will hate me for this, but since they don't have a strong captive presence I won't really ever use them. I'm confused about why they didn't choose the highly requested blackbuck. Saigas aren't even popular in the media. Happy nonetheless for those who want them though!

4. Sloth Bear- OH MY GOSH!!!! I was a bit disappointed cause I thought we'd get the ABB instead of the sloth bear. I'm not worried in the slightest that this will affect the spectacled bear's inclusion. It honestly makes me more certain that we could see a Latin America Animal Pack in the spring. They are perfect for actual Indian areas.

Final thoughts and speculations:
I think it is an Asia Pack. The scenery will be Central Asian/South Asian-themed (excluding India). I honestly think there's no need to be more specific than "Asia".
