Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

what I hope for the remaining habitat animals:
A Canid (basically tanuki but golden jackal is a lesser choice that is slightly possible), a deer (Muntjac, Elk, Sika, even Pere David's would ALL be welcome). I hope for Pallas' cat (even though it would make the pack carnivore heavy...)
For the sake of not being too carnivore heavy: replace the cat or dog with a primate (but hopefully not that one with the weird colors...)

My thoughts:
  • Still think it’s an animal pack. Remember with grasslands and arid they only teased 1-3 animals of the pack, plus we already have Asian scenery, would be kinda dumb to get yet another Asian scenery set.
  • I’m afraid this will be another region pack. I liked it for Oceania cause of the scenery, but it really feels like we’re missing the point of animal packs from the beginning. Animal packs are supposed to be diverse, and if this is an Eurasia pack, it’s not going to be. And saying “well it combines Asia and Europe” doesnt prove its diverse. A lot of people combine both continents into one section in zoos cause it’s easier, so this is basically a region pack.
I’m disappointed. Regardless of my heavy bias, they really had the opportunity to make a good diverse animal pack that spreads itself around the world with mountains. We’re probably not gonna get a baboon, if anything if the clown monkey gets in I wouldn’t be surprised.

They didn't tease any scenery for Oceania. I think it's likely it's an animal pack, but I think a scenery pack is possible

Edit: The main thing that makes me skeptical of an animal pack is a December 19th release date. Maybe they are just shifting or shortening Fronteir's holiday break?

I agree, I liked the more biodiverse packs we had. Wetlands had animals from different continents, as well as Tropical, twilight and Grassland. So yeah, I would love to see more packs like these. Still Wolverine and Takin are solid, but I guess we have to wait and see what the DLC got to offer.

NA only revealed the Beaver as far AS I remember. Arid also had only 4 animals revealed. Grasslands had the Armadillo at the end and as far as I remember less than 4.

Edit: So this would be clearly No exception but more the rule.

As for the animals I’ll give my quick thoughts:
  • Saiga; Useless for a realistic setting, but I’m oddly interested in its inclusion. Idk, it’s a cool animal and I kinda wanna make an enclosure for it.
  • Sloth Bear; Useless. For my personal project this is a massive letdown. I needed one bear for my Americas section, either spectacled or ABB, and we got the single one I can’t use 😭
  • Wolverine. Decently excited for, was never mega excited for it but I still wanna add it to my zoos and it’s a cool animal.
  • Takin. Best animal of the pack so far. Love it.
