Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

i’m not sure the takin is a sure bet. The Wisent also fits the description given in the livestream, and was what I immediately thought of until everyone jumped on the Takin train. While it could be either, I wouldn’t rule the Wisent out.

The Wolverine lived in Pleistocene times, and so fits this pack well.

The Sloth Bear I’m not sure of, but there were bears around in the Ice Age, admittedly the Spectacled Bear would be a MUCH better inclusion.
Idk golden fur isnt what i would discribe a wisent with

Why isn't I genuinely want an unique canid enough?
I mean: Tanukis captive presence: They are in a couple zoos in North America, many in Asia, They are one of the most basal canids, their structure of their skull resembles crab-eating foxes, they climb trees (ONLY the grey fox also does it habitually). They look unlike anything else we have in game as far as dogs go with their proportionately shorter legs... They are in danger of humans for being an invasive species in Europe and having somewhat useful fur. They play a huge role in culture upto the Modern age (Mario with the coon hat AND Animal Crossing). They eat fruits... They live near water alot of the time.
I mean, I know some of the wiki...
Because your using the word unique and canid in the same sentence which makes everyone mad. People who care about an animal being unique dont want more canids and people who want "realistic" animals rather than unique ones dont want that canid.

Takin - Sichuan or Golden?
Wolverine
Saiga
Sloth bear

———

what else would you most desire to complete this roster?

I think Chinese wetlands deer would be my favorite choice so:
1. Pere David’s deer
Tropical Indian monkey:
2. Lion tailed macaque
Bird or tundra pinniped:
3. Walrus

I'm sure everyone knows which animal I want!
If not... let me find pics. jk

I honestly hope in 2024 that Frontier stops looking at the meta wishlist so much. I think this year has shown that it isn't representative of what the community currently wants, like most of the animals we got were high up on the list but those same animals also were quite controversial a lot of the time. Meanwhile a lot of the animals I see people talking more about now are quite low on the meta-wishlist.

I hope not?

Coati, howler, secretary bird, grey crowned crane... like yes please keep looking at the metawishlist. My favorite animals are right on the top of it at the moment.

Sorry i didnt mean to attack you, i meant it as a joke why the "more interesting" animals arnt getting those posts cause im to busy summing up wikipedia to collect pics
Its totally cool that you love the tanuki and if we get them, thats great and ill be happy for you, but personally im not the most interested....is what i would have said but wait they climb trees?
Thats genuinly really cool and combined with their more unique appearance and them being super common due to being an invasive being found in 157 EAZA zoos, id be quite allright with them as a filler pick for a pack, just not for this one.
If we allready have 2 ungulates and 2 carnivorans i really hope the other 3 animals do the heavy lifting regarding diversifying the pack, with the mandarin duck, hamadryas baboon and a lori being my pipe dream picks
