Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Yeah because Oceania was 🙈🤯
Oceania, despite having half as many animals, was more diverse than arid taxonomically, climatically, behaviourally, and even geographically. This pack, whilst it’s never going to be my favourite (since I mostly build in warmer climate areas) looks….. ok (depending what other animals we get). Doesn’t contribute to filling the most needed gaps (birds, monkeys, SA) but the last few packs have been warmer-climate, so I’m ok with the change in pace. Maybe I’ll give a colder-climate zoo a go…

Anyway I'm not going to pretend there's some great argument for why the sloth bear should've gotten the nod over the ABB or spectacled bear. It was my least wanted bear, after all. But that's not to say I didn't want it, I've been a strong advocate for all 8 bears (+HBB, I guess) since around the time we got the sun bear. If there's one group that feels warranted being included in full beyond Panthera, it's the bears. They're all good inclusions.

Okay so to recap:

Bad:
- Animal that looks like no other currently in the game and covers a very unique biome with a large range that can not be better represented then with them, while also elevating two other animals in the game as now the 3 main hitters for the central asian steppe are in the game. Also a major conservation icon and iconic for the northern parts of eurasia

Good:
  • Floof
  • Has 2 alternatives in the game that are better then it and 2 alternatives to add that are leagues better then it
  • Also Floof

I really don't think that we won't get the spectacled bear because we got the sloth bear (assuming 2024 support). Frontier knows how badly people want it, and they probably are keeping it for a Latin America Pack. I'm not worried!

That’s literally brown. And btw why do you want wisent more than takin?
It’s quite literally more gold than three out of four takin species. It is often described as brown to gold.
And in rehards to why I want it more than Takin, it’s personal preference. They’re much more common here in the UK than Takin. Additionally, they go better with the Ice Age/Pleistocene descendants theme which was what was being discussed here.
