Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I really haven't noticed tbh 😯

...yep, this is probably because while exploring/exobio-ing, i usually have a mix of ambient/spacey music on and probably assumed any exobio singing noises were just part of my own soundtrack - this reminds me to add some John Foxx to the mix, like this old favourite... :)

I tend to have no music in my gaming most of the time which probably why I'm noticing exo sounds.

I returned Death Stranding because the music could not be turned off. It's the first thing I do in any game -- turn off the music.

I despise having music playing in the background of, well, anything really. Including real life.

I find music to be too compelling, and I can't "tune it out", so it interferes with my thinking/enjoying.

It's probably part of why I became a musician myself, and worked for years as an audio engineer. I have the ability to pick out sounds in a mix, or even individual voices in a group.

I've always been very attuned to music. Having music playing is just too distracting for me.

I listen to music when I want to enjoy music. :p

It really depends on the music, I find - much of the time, when exploring, I just want some additional ambient, non-intrusive sound to augment the rather sparse game audio… on the other hand, when in the mood for action, I will play the kind of thing we used to go out and dance to :)

That's what I usually do, too. In this game, there is a small exception, as it offers quite a bit of customization in that regard, unlike most other games. I left the station music on, which means I can listen to some music in the bar or enjoy some elevator music...
And there is some rare, ambient-like music sometimes out in the black. Just a few seconds, each time it comes.

I feel with you...

Nono, careful CMDR McWolf -- them cactii can be pokey

A little entertainment for you guys, fighting in night vision. I had my wife's new Siamese kitten trying to jump in my lap the whole time, whenever she didn't make it, she would dig her claws into my thigh and hang there yaling at me.

Well, I wasn't feeling the cacti as much as this statement:
And the second attempt had it take one look at said flat ground and decide to it wasn't good enough and fly off again. I mean...
I think I should have made that a little clearer.
Though I have to admit that confusing you sometimes leads to some interesting and entertaining results... ;)

You say that as if it were a bad thing...
Or were you just channeling your inner siamese kitten?

I have one of them, half siamese, and one other grey tiger, both cats doing that thigh things. And now that they grew up, they can't stand as easily on my knees while gaming whithout slipping, but cats being cats, they put the blame on me anyway. Lately, when they feel the need to seek attention while I'm playing a lot, they figured that running as fast as possible in front of my screen through the keyboard, was a very proficient solution. Should have named them ''Elite'' and ''Dangerous''.🤔

That customisation is a nice feature, I also usually remove music from games, but like the ambient ads/generic blues rock on stations and bars.
Otherwise, I love playing space/psychedelic/stoner playlists on the background while cruising, beacause I find ED design somerhing like 70s space opera books, movies and so on that fits well together, but would pause it whenever something like a mission is focusing my attention.

Indeed :)

…and another answer to the question, i guess would be:

*wow… released in 1982 it was - that’d be around 42 years ago? ^^
Right. "And if they don't dance, they're no friends of mine." A quite simple, but effective safety measure.

Although I can definitely see (hear) that, I somehow struggle with listening to music while playing. In real life, while driving in my car, no issue, though preferably some self-burned CD, containing the equivalent of a playlist of my favourite music, instead of radio (because of the necessary evils - ads, news and bad reception).

Depends what I am doing. I'm fine with most spaceside things except combat. For some reason I can't SRV well with music. I think possibly I rely on audio cues for driving at pace (that seems to be true on driving sims too, virtual 360 changed my life when iRacing introduced that)

Simply learn to like two-step DnB and move to London. No shortage of voice-free FM broadcasts to listen to then ;-) (And yeah I don't listen to voice radio when urban driving either)
